Dust In A Baggie - Billy Strings
Live at the Grand Old Opry, 2019
In 1976 Dudley Hill released “From A Northern Family”. Lots of great flat picking on this one.
Enjoy !
Doc Watson ~ Train that carried my girl from town
In 1972 Danny Ross released Flattop Guitar Man. This album has some electric guitar and acoustic guitar as lead instruments. It seems to me mostly flat picking instead of finger picking.
01 - I'll Be All Smiles Tonight 02 - Wildwood Flower 03 - St. Louis Blues 04 - Gumdrops 05 - Soldier's Joy 06 - Amazing Grace 07 - Carroll County Blues 08 - South 09 - I Love You So 10 - Big Beaver 11 - When My Blue Moon Turns To Gold Again 12 - Me & Buck
Enjoy!
Haiku, Memento Mori "Doc Watson was an - absolute genius at flat - picking a guitar"
Billy Strings is one to watch.
“Imagine taking a hardcore heavy metal band like Pantera and cramming all that energy into the body of a 21-year-old bluegrass guitarist. That’s basically Billy Strings. He TORE across the stage during his set, grimacing, growling, swearing, head-banging and tearing the holy shit out of a set of utterly-straight-ahead traditional bluegrass. Kid can pick! DAMN can he pick!”
I was just a kid when I came across Mr. Warfield. I would see him doing some wonderful Doc Watson style guitar picking at bluegrass festivals. I believe he had fought cancer in his throat and lost his ability to speak. He was one of those guys that fell in love with bluegrass music and had to pick with his friends.
Enjoy!
