These are easier to distinguish than the pipits: the White Wagtail and the Yellow Wagtail. But (!) there are many varieties of the Yellow Wagtail. Here in northern Germany, the "flava" variety dominates, but birds of the "thunbergi" variety also pass through on their way to their breeding grounds in the north.
