Hello! I’m writing a fanfic of a character who canonically had a “serious injury” in the past. They got it from head banging (like when listening to rock music. He plays guitar while head banging). The injury canonically “took him out of the touring circuit for years” but he seems to fully recover. I’m planning on the fic taking place in the media’s canon time setting. How do I write this? Would he have migraines and seizures? Personality changes?

The symptoms of TBIs vary immensely depending on the exact region of damage. Please decide what area of the brain or nervous system is damaged, and to what degree, and pick symptoms that match that area. Of your list, personality changes are pretty rare from TBIs. A character might have more trouble managing their anger, or struggle with impulse control, but you generally don't wake up as a whole new person. Feel free to ask more questions once you've decided on more specifics of your character's injury!
