Rowan had awoken from what felt like the deepest, heaviest sleep she’d ever known. Her body fought every movement she tried to make, elbows cracking as they bent and legs so stiff it's like they’d forgotten how to walk.
Rowan was struggling to piece together how she ended up out there in the first place when she finally made it to parts of the city that looked… sort of familiar. Everything was just so damn bright. Neon signs buzzed and blinked like they were screaming at her, each one sending a sharp sting through her skull. It felt like she was staring into the sun, All she could do was squint, one hand shielding her face.
The moment she spotted her apartment building, she bolted. She couldn’t get inside fast enough.
