It occurred to me that I should write down the lunar phases on quick-reference sheets so that I don’t need to break out my big notebook every time I want to check and see if I’m doing things right. Yes, it’s been a long time coming but I finally did the damn thing. I’m really enjoying this process of familiarizing myself with the craft—next on my list is to do sheets for the wheel of the year and perhaps correspondences after that.

I’m so proud right now

Recently I took on my friend as a student. He’s been learning witchcraft for about a month or two now and I’ve gone over the basics with him, trying to give him a firm foundation, and gauging his interest to better help him take his first steps on his path. He has an interesting idea of what he wants to pursue, and I haven’t seen many do something like it, and that’s the path of a fitness witch. He’s always been really into health and fitness, so magick that focuses on healing and strengthening the body along with the soul is right where he wants to be, and I think it’s a pretty cool concept. With that, he’s been gravitating towards green witchcraft and kitchen witchcraft, because half of health is what you put into yourself, so he wants to start growing his own healthy meals next spring and have a better connection to his garden. So the point of this post is this. A little while ago he sent me this message:

So I just scratch made pretzel bites and tried to infuse love and my energy into everything and it must have worked because my parents stopped fighting (they both quit smoking recently) and the pretzel bites disappeared in about 3 seconds because everyone said they’re so good. Lol 

I’m so proud of him right now! He’s been learning a lot and is totally insatiable when it comes to asking about everything. I’m so glad that he was able to work a simple spell and get such a positive outcome, and I think he’s really found that core concept in kitchen witchery. He’s got a long way to go, but I’m happy these first steps on his path have been so positive.

hello I was wondering if it’s possible to celebrate the sabbats even if you’re not wiccan?

Definitely! I’m not Wiccan at all and I celebrate most of the sabbats✨ for me it’s about observing and honouring the natural cycles of our planet. For others it’s about honouring specific deities. It’s completely up to you how and why and what you’re celebrating when it comes to the sabbats ✨

Hi. I hope this is okay, I’ve got a few questions. I only just recently found out about and started learning about paganism and witchcraft and I’m talking a liking to it. I was wondering, what exactly are the different types of witches and magic? How would someone who is very new to witchcraft possibly get started/try it out?

Welcome to the community! The best advice for starting out i can give is to read from many different witches experiences and paths and get a feel for what feels in alignment to you. What makes you go ‘heck yeah, this feels really right.’ Everyone’s path is going to be different, and the ‘titles’ we use generally come way after we’ve been sitting comfortably in our craft for a while, and it’s really just a descriptor of your personal craft, it doesn’t define it. I also have a whole tag for beginners as well. It’s where I put any info I feel I would have benefitted from when I was just starting.

And as for different types of witches, I suppose it depends on what we’re calling a ‘type.’ There’s the really broad categories like ‘secular’ and ‘religious/pagan/deity worshipping.’ Then there’s the..lets call them the medium-sized ones like Norse Pagan, Christian, secular, Wiccan etc. And then, in much more recent years, we’ve been using specific words to describe our practice like green witch, kitchen witch, hedge witch, necromancer, etc. And each of those can be paired with a medium category. 

Like, me, for example. I call myself a secular green witch. Secular describes that I don’t work with any deities currently and green witch simply means that plants play a very important role in my practice and life. But I didn’t choose those words when I first started. I started undefined…i didn’t even identify as a witch until I knew being a magical practitioner is what I was. I dabbled, learned, and then organically, the things that felt most right ended up being secular and with plants involved in almost every aspect. And after discovering that, is when I chose to describe myself that way. Like.. all it is there for is to give others an idea of what your craft looks like and the things that are important to you. Labels are simply there for the sake of others, and not to define or limit your craft. 

And then we have the concept of different types of magic…which I don’t believe in. I believe that magic is all energy and there’s no such thing as ‘dark’ or ‘light’ magic, and a necromancer’s magic really is no different than a greenwitch’s. It can be a useful descriptor of a spell so that you know what the main tools you’ll need are.. like a green spell…you’ll probably be needing plants..but the magic of it, the energy it will contain/project etc won’t be like..a different ‘species’ of magic than if it were a cosmic witch’s spell.I feel like this was a bit all over the place, but I hope it’s articulate enough 😂✨Tips are always much appreciated: Buy me a coffee | Donate to my Education

ok so I'm just starting out and I've always been very interested and in-tune with this community but I just now have been getting more involved. this may be a very common question but is there a specific/right way I should start out? I was looking through your blog but nothing really seemed to stand out to me. thank you! 💌

Wow thank you for saying this blog stands out! That means the world 💜As for starting out, the greatest thing about witchcraft/neopaganism is that you are the one creating your own practice and path. There’s no right and wrong way for most things. This can totally be frustrating sometimes when you just want an easy ‘this is how you do it’ type answer, but forming your own path is  something that I think is pretty important. 

I, personally, got a feel for the community and how I’d one day like to practice my craft before ‘officially’ calling myself a witch or doing ritual. You can call yourself a witch whenever you like, and you can start your craft however you like. You can start with a small spell, a ritual to honour a deity or the moon or even honour a season, or you can start by celebrating a sabbat, like I did. I started on Imbolc with a ritual to honour the occasion as well as the season. I’m sure you’ve already seen, but in case you haven’t, I have a whole tag for beginners, under witchling, where I put anything I think could be useful info for anyone just starting out.Please let me know if you have any more questions! Happy witchcrafting!✨

Spell advice!

Alright tumblr. I want to help my boyfriend find a new job. He’s having poor luck so I want to cast a spell for him. I need spell recommendations (preferably ones that have worked for you or someone you know!) that a novice witch can handle.
