@fleetingdance || Day of Devotion starter || GAY IDIOTS
He makes the initial decision somewhat on a whim(if a week or so ahead of time), following a short burst of energy filled with the sentiment of “hang it all, I may as well” and carrying through to the end with it.
The Day of Devotion seems to be a constant in many worlds, Nohr included, and with the war drawn to a close and recovery beginning in all lands, Ward thinks that actually celebrating a holiday is an indulgence he is long overdue.
As is, he muses as he straightens his tie, being completely forthright with his feelings for Laslow.
He has always been naturally sweet and complimentary with everyone he knows. Not to flirt or charm, but because he likes to see the light and happiness in peoples' faces when they hear kind words, and when their best qualities and efforts are praised. He speaks more openly and vulnerably than many in their old group, and he supposes he is more laid back as well. But there are still many things he keeps mostly to himself, both as Pence and as Ward.
It took a little bargain hunting, haggling and help from Wren to get some decent, well fitting formalwear- it's been so long since he's had any need or occasion to dress in such a way. But he doesn't dislike it, really, and a special occasion like this is worth going to the effort.
The door to Laslow's quarters is open when Ward arrives, and Laslow himself seems to have just gotten in from some errand, sat on his bed and unlacing his boots. Ward knocks on the doorframe and proceeds to lean against it, free hand in his pocket while the other holds a pretty but modest bouquet of white carnations. “I've a special delivery here for someone,” He says by way of greeting, letting his smile seep into his mellow baritone.
