Flick Pick of the week: The Killing of a Chinese Bookie
So if you really want to watch something noncommercial and in the crime world, give this a try. John Cassavetes is one of our favorite directors. This was one of his more forgotten films. Even though you could argue all his films are. Ben Gazzara has one of his best performances of his career.
Flick Pick of the Week: Intermission
It’s already 14 years old, which is hard to believe. It’s a small foreign film from Ireland, but it has a great cast and sharp script. It follows like 25 different storylines of different losers around Dublin. Not something that's easy to do. You could see some big names just from the trailer. Very funny film while the pace is lighting fast.

Hot Fuzz.
It’s always hard to pick a favorite in the Cornetto Trilogy. But Hot Fuzz is 1a. It takes a procedural cop movie and turns it on its head. With comedy, action, and heart, it’s either time to revisit it or see it for the first time.
Flick Pick of the Week: The Guard
Very original. A new take on buddy-cop films. The trailer is really good, but you can’t really tell how dark the film is from it. Brendan Gleeson was a riot through out. I especially like the ending, they went another way with it.
Flick Pick of the Week: The Lives of Others
A beautiful film. This was excellent directing, it’s a perfect thriller. Some great twists and turns with the script. I loved the ending, thought it was perfect. If you ever seen the films “Blow Out”, “The Conversation” and “Blow Up”, it has similar themes.
Flick Pick of the Week: The Future
Such a fresh and original film. I can’t compare it to anything. Just watch the watch, kinda odd in a good way. The plot is interesting and a little twisted. The humor is very dry and eccentric. Worth checking out, a good indie film.
Flick Pick of the Week: Barton Fink
One of the Coen Brothers most unusual films, and that’s saying a lot. It’s very funny in that Coen dry humor way. John Goodman and John Turturro have some intense and amazing scenes together. It’s a film lover’s film. With a ending so crazy you’ll want to watch it twice.
Flick Pick of the Week: Topkapi
If you love crime and heist type of films, this is like a God Father of them all. Have patience with, it's constantly pushing the story forward, even when you can't tell. Always building up, scene after scene. A great and clever climax, you'll either love or hate the last two minutes. After watching it you'll be able to name one or two films that have borrow ideas from Topkapi. I'm not totally sure if Hollywood would keep the same ending, but this one is perfect.
