This is just a quick and interesting take on what might’ve happened during those missing nine minutes that Mulder and Scully inexplicably lost in the pilot. It’s part time travel AU and part flickfic, peppered with speculation and just an intriguing idea.

How might this have affected pilot!Scully to have seen what she sees as this fic writer imagines? It’s an interesting question...and well worth a read.

For some reason, we’ve found ourselves questioning some key players’ possible motivations for their actions both in the past, and potentially in the future, and to that end, we bring you tonight’s rec.

It is, as is usually the case with ML’s brilliant writing, insightful vivid. It is Fight the Future told from none other than the Cigarette Smoking Man’s perspective. And before you blow it off (pun intended), we ask that you give it a chance.

Any fic writer will tell you that writing from CSM’s oily, privileged perspective is difficult at best. So imagine a writer talented enough that you come to understand CSM’s motivations, to see his love for both Mulder and Scully, and to even, dare we say it, empathize with him?

That is tonight’s rec. So give it a shot.  You won’t be disappointed.

X-Files movie and episode fanfiction

Stage One of the Cutting Room Floor resurrection is finally complete.  This was a rather large undertaking, involving the replacement of over 500 missing stories, the fixing of over 4,000 links, and recreation of a number of missing banner images. 

There’ll be a little break before stage two of the resurrection is started while other neglected projects get some attention.  Stage two involves adding all the extra stories that should have been there but weren’t linked on the pages we recovered.  In the meantime, if you’re looking for a specific post ep fic written while the show was originally on air and it’s not there, feel free to ask.

Post-Episode/Missing Scene Thursday

Show of hands...who loves flickfic?  Yeah, us too.  Especially missing scene fic that attempts to fill the gap between the SnoCat running out of gas and being stranded in Antarctica to Mulder and Scully actually making it home.  Talk about a plot hole the size of, well, that giant hole the space ship left behind. Today’s fic features some mytharc, an original character that you can’t help but sympathize with and worry for, some cuddles, and a bit of Mulder torture. What’s not to love?  Furthermore, the author’s style is crisp and haunting.  His description of Scully’s experience with the alien virus makes your skin crawl, and his ability for Mulder and Scully to say so much without saying very much at all is perfectly in-character for our favorite duo.  Enjoy today’s flickfic, Philes!
