Perched on an expensive patio table in Nadira’s back yard, the Aquila Drive party Magda had thrown without her permission was in full swing. She wasn’t even entirely sure who half of these people were, though she definitely recognised someone from Abernathy Creek as they flung down the tambourine they’d been pounding and cannonballed into the pool, fully clothed and yodelling. It made a commotion she didn’t bother to dwell on, glance like a disturbed cat aside, opting instead to look over her shoulder when she heard a new arrival. “Hi,” she addressed simply, lifting the magic eight ball in her hands to give it a limp shake. “Got any questions that keep you awake at night? My third eye’s open and it’s lazy in a really endearing way, like a French bulldog. I have the answer.” @irvingstarters
Word of the Silver Spur barn burning down had spread across campus just as fast as the fire itself. In spite of this, Delilah remained cool as a fresh mint TicTac. She was sitting in the quad at a picnic bench with a leg crossed over and a citrus yellow highlighter poised in hand, occasionally running over lone words in one of her module’s textbooks. There was a tapestry being woven in her brain, words plucked and pieced to form a full sentence, full context of which she’d never give to anyone. Crush was the last. It seemed very likely, if you genuinely knew Delilah -- a concept which was rare in itself -- that the jigsaw put together would involve some form of threat, penance for snooping inside her things in the first place. Whoever she’d taken a seat opposite wouldn’t know anything from her pupils’ lack of dilation, eye drops blinked to bury evidence. “Have you been called in about it, yet?” Another highlight. “The barn. They’re making quite the fuss, trying to find whoever did it,” left her mouth like it was a clear exaggeration, bored sigh parting her lips. “I’d care more if any goats had died in there. They eat anything, it’s disgusting. I love it. An underrated animal, if you ask me.” @yatesstarters
Slipping between two shoulders, finally, into the adjourning room, Lana looked a little like a Jackson Pollock in the first stages -- there was a crudely smeared hand around her ankle, where someone had yanked her close in the grass outside, plopping into their lap like a rag doll, and the rest of her wasn’t much better. Still, though, there was more skin than paint, and by the triumph in Lana’s smile when she reached out and caught Benji’s hand, anyone would think she’d won a medal for it. “Found you,” she substituted in place of a “boo!”, paint on her palm slick against his. Without any explanation, she lifted his bright hand to sit it against her chest, a little to the left where she’d read her heart was supposed to be. She pressed gently enough that it would leave a mark, pink and luminous. “See? I saved you a spot.” @benjigates

“Honestly? I never thought I’d see the day that I would have to try this hard to get someone to buy me a drink.” Finger trailing along the rim of an empty glass like she were trying to coerce more liquor to rise to the surface, Dakota craned her neck to peer across the bar, a default scowl set in place. “I mean, maybe I’m lucky. Maybe God’s up there watching out for me right now and all the people in here are unattractive, self-absorbed assholes. Unlikely, but a girl can dream.”
“Orifice...” Romeo said the other’s nickname like a warning –– and it was, more or less, considering that just seconds after Orpheus was beckoned he was hit between the eyes by a rogue, half-drained water bottle. “Oh shit, mind if I have some of that? I’m, like, Spongebob-when-he-visits-Sandy-and-nearly-dies level thirsty. Must be the heat.” Romeo took a swig, plopping down next to Orpheus like he hadn’t just soft roleplayed Lee Harvey Oswald. “Cheers.” @orpheusrivera
"Shush, just concentrate on staying awake, okay? Don't sleep." ( cason )

There was so much pain. She did not recall how they got here or why. Nothing got past the overwhelming urge to just sink into the warmth of darkness. Cason was pleading with her, begging her to stay awake, but awake was pain, and she was so tired. Even the energy to do more than hazily peer at him through half-lidded eyes was almost more than she could put forth.
Each breath was exhausting, pulling in and pushing out with a force that felt like there was a ton of weights resting on her chest. She did not have the strength for words, to tell him it was okay, that it would pass, that she was just tired. There was hardly any color in her skin now, save for the rush of blood that spread around her and the faintest glow of her markings.
The world was so large, and she was so small. What was it, if she fell asleep? Maybe it would not hurt anymore if she just let go. If the world forgot about her, leaving just one immortal who may, too, forget her one day, would it matter?
There was a hurt in his voice that pulled hard at her instincts. It forced her to open her eyes and look up at him. Was it empathy or a last desperate push of adrenaline that gave her the strength to focus on his face?
No, she could not leave him.
The faintest smile touched her lips. A breath of a voice escaped her lips.
“Yeah, I love you, too.”
