on “being human”
Me, Cheonggyesan, Korea, 2013
Hi. It is I, Clayton, Human. This version was neither adapted for cinema nor played by Will Smith, and as such, is thoroughly uninteresting.
As many who actually know me know about me, I spend all measures of time thinking about my own vulnerabilities, myself as I relate to others, and other assorted flavours of stupid bullshit. Why don’t I react to things the way others do? Why are my decisions in similar scenarios entirely different than ways commonly perceived as “normal”? Why do I insist on going against the grain when it comes to major life decisions? I will never know, but that’s both the beauty and vileness of being a unique (and thoroughly weird) Homo sapiens.

You see, the primary element of humanity, the fact that we are all different on various levels, is simultaneously the source of solidarity and of conflict between us. A thing appearing benign and insignificant to one person can send another person into a fit of rage. Things created for positive purposes can be and often are used for nefarious deeds. As the saying goes, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” (The latter statement also applies to women.)
Even if you spend all of your existence trying to please everyone and to be the best human possible, know that you have certainly also pissed off a lot of people, all who may have different reasons for said pissed-offness. And even so-called “good” people fuck up. A fuckton.
In conclusion, all you can really do is be yourself and do your best to be the best you you can be. Also, fuck people, because they all suck wrinkly ballsacks.
