Flo was HAPPY - crazy, deliriously happy. she hadn’t been this happy in a LONG TIME, but a mix of the COMMUNITY ATMOSPHERE THAT PRIDE RADIATED and the LITTLE PINK PILL had taken all her anxieties away. She was chatting away to the lovely woman who was applying a GLITTER RAINBOW to her face to go with the variety of glitter tattoos up her arms. She had a way of connecting with people, even when she was sober, she always tried to take the time to listen and get to really know people. THIS WOMAN was called JESS, she had two kids and had shown Florence a few pictures on her phone thingy, she was bisexual and had grown up in London. She was an early years teacher and did face painting on the side. Jess wouldn’t learn nearly as much about Florence as Florence had learned about her, but that’s okay. ‘‘ Alright love, that’ll be £12.50 ’’ Jess says with a smile, putting away the paintbrush and replacing the lids on the glitter. ‘‘ of course! ’’ the purple haired girl says with shocking calmness, opening her bag as a feeling of PANIC creeps up the back of her neck. FUCK, all these damn coins look the same, like they literally LOOK THE FUCKING SAME. She glances up for a second, offering jess an awkward smile as her eyes quickly scan the crowd. ‘‘ Oh HEY - sorry just a sec - ’’ and she’s out of her seat in a flash, moving towards the familiar face ‘‘ HEY - can you help me? I don’t - I don’t get this. ’’ she says quietly, opening her purse and gesturing to the various coins.
If the Weasleys had recognizable hair, it was nothing compared to Flora Greengrass’s. Not that Frank really ever talked to Flora Greengrass; her hair was the most he knew about her, and now that she was asking him for help was a rather unexpected (though pleasant) surprise. Her face was covered in paint, though Frank hadn’t first thought that she hadn’t painted it herself.
“What are you talking about?” It took him a moment to realize that she needed help with the coins—he hadn’t brought any himself because he hadn’t exactly planned on purchasing anything.
Frank knew enough about muggle money to figure it out, even if the Leaky Cauldron still operated in galleon, sickle, and knut. People lost enough of them at the pub that nearly a decade’s worth of change sat underneath the counter, since everyone always forgot to exchange them at Gringotts.
The two of them were in the way, and Frank had to shimmy to properly take a look. In a hurry to take care of whatever she was dealing with, his joke didn’t come across as funny as he had intended. “What do you need these for? You could just use a confundus charm, you know!”
