Some studies of artworks from the Adventures™️
1– Portrait of a Young Man, Andrea del Sarto. One of my favourite paintings at the moment!
2– one of the many plaster cast busts in the Accademia Gallery. There’s one room where every wall is covered in busts, and it was stunning.
3– Michelangelo’s David. I CAN’T GET OVER THE FACT I SAW HIM IN REAL LIFE, I’M NOT GOING TO SHUT UP ABOUT IT FOR A WHILE. It’s one of the statues that I’ve always thought was beautiful, but had sort of accepted that, because I live on the other side of the world, I just wouldn’t see it. So it was very exciting!!
4–The Uffizi Gallery. Drew this one on the plane home (proud of how it turned out with all that considered!), and only realised after I’d done half the shading that I’d started on the wrong side and would smudge the rest if I finished it :))) so it’ll remain wonky (I like to think it gives it personality).
5–one of the Three Graces in Botticelli’s Primavera. FJFJFJJDJDJD ALSO NOT SHUTTING UP ABOUT THIS. Again, I’ve liked Botticelli’s artworks for a while but I feel like I appreciate them so much more now having seen them in person. Photos and books never quite do art justice. They come close but never truly capture the beauty and the scale and the awe you feel standing in front of it. I love going to galleries so much,, some of my favourite places in the world.
6– The Dream of Saint Helena, by Paolo Veronese. I really loved her face in his painting.
Even if you don’t know me personally I imagine it’s probably not hard to guess that I’m really interested in art and history, so going to Florence (and England too) was one of the best experiences I’ve had. There’s just something about exploring new places and experiencing different things that makes life feel so much richer. I feel inspired in a way that I hadn’t for a very long time. As soon as we left I wanted to go back and see more, and more and more. There is so much history and culture it’s impossible to experience it all. Hopefully next time though!!
Sorry for the rambling. Thanks for listening!
Little Women really is that movie that we’re gonna watch in ten years’ time and make casual bets about on how many Oscars that bonkers cast has between them.
miss the days when florence + the machine’s cover of tiny dancer was being played constantly in public places
me seeing literally any piece of green vintage-ish women’s clothing: Oh My God It’s Her
happy birthday!! i hope you have the best day! 🎉
ahhh thank you so much!! 🥹
Listen...I know the show turned out Like That, but this trailer is still pretty damn cool.
And remember when the entire cast was firing on all cylinders? Good times.
