16. In an Embarrassing/Provocative Costume

"Oh, no..." Neil went pale when he saw Mira coming towards the shop. He looked down at himself. His boss wanted to try out a new marketing strategy, and let's just say it involved him in a cupcake outfit. His cheeks reddened, going from pale to pink in a matter of seconds.

Shit. It was bad enough having strangers see him like this, but someone he knew? Hoping she hadn't seen him yet, he slunk back into the store, a metaphorical tail between his legs.

The comment caught him off-guard. He looked up from his photos, smiling briefly, unable to discern if there was any bitterness in her words. "It is," he said, flipping through the photos. Most of them were printed out on old-fashioned, glossy paper. The rest were stored in a thin datapad, he'd left that to the side for now. "Sure. You want some visuals, too?" he asked, waving a handful of photos in the air.

Does it really get so stale after only so long? And who knows, maybe the ones I get /are/ yours. ...Though I'm surprised you have the right accent.

... Maybe not that fast, too stale to feed to customers. And maybe they're not.

Neil: No? Sure, I've had terrible hugs before, but it's just a hug. It's over in like a second.

Tas: Yes. I'm not a big hugger, I have a large personal bubble. I love anime cons, but sometimes people don't respect that. When I was closet cosplaying a gijinka Pikachu people used it as an excuse to hug me/touch me because I was "cute" and I dearly wished I could've shocked them.

ヽ(ﾟДﾟ)ﾉ Have you ever wanted to flip a table before? If so, why?

Neil: I have flipped one, actually. It was for paint ball, though. -bites his lip- Um. Whenever we get rude customers at The Upper Crust. Getting shot at is hard, but you can shoot back. Can't really talk back to customers no matter how bad they deserve it.

Tas: Last night when my internet was not cooperating and I wanted to find a Walking Dead stream. Also quite frequently when I'm not having a great day and my roommates' bad habits get on my last nerve. Usually it manifests not in table flipping but very angrily putting away milk that was left on the counter.

➍: Ever been to a concert? Was it fun?

Neil: Not until college, but yeah. They're fun. The first one I went to I only went because the girl I liked wanted to go, but I had a blast. The band wasn't great, but they were having a good time.

Tas: I've been to a few. They've all been fun when I've chose to go. My dad has made me go to concerts a few times for bands/singers I'm not interested in and those are less fun. So yes, they can be fun, but only if I'm willingly going.

♞: Showers or baths?

Neil: Uh, gotta go with showers. I always feel cleaner after a shower, plus they're quicker.

Tas: Baths. I wouldn't like to take one everyday, but I do enjoy taking a bath and listening to music. They're way better for shaving your legs, too. I'm kind of picky about where I'm taking a bath, though. I prefer taking baths in rooms with natural light. It's more relaxing that way.

3) Every day for weeks, someone has been sneaking into my muse’s home or office and leaving a note which reads “Why did you do it?” I will write a drabble about what my muse assumes the note is about his reaction.

Why did you do it? It stared at him while he was cleaning his teeth, stuck on the mirror as if whoever wrote it wanted him to face his crimes. He shrugged it off, figuring it was his roommate.

It was there when he got to work. Another note, same handwriting. Why did you do it? Neil balled it up and threw it in the bin, who used paper these days anyway?

They turned up stuck to the tags of his shirts, and scrawled across cereal boxes. He found them on cakes and under the covers of his bed. Why did you do it? Why did you do it? Why did you do it?

One by one they were balled up and thrown into the trash. Still, Neil couldn't help but answer.

Because I'm scared.

Because they'd take care of me.

Because they need money.

It was a high-paying job.

I didn't even kill the guy.

His answers ran dry after a few weeks. He stopped removing them, stopped throwing them in the trash. But they kept appearing until his guilt was glaring at him from every angle. It was too late-- it was too late for him.

I'm sorry.
