I’ve always had such an interest in nature, so this week - for my own personal studies - I decided to look into one of my personal favourite flowers: the forget-me-not.
In flower language, the forget-me-not symbolises remembrance, loyalty, undying love, and memories.
“Faithful love & memories.”
‘Love’ here does not solely refer to romantic love; forget-me-nots are used to express platonic love, familial love, and lost love.
The flower is dainty and delicate, often it is only spotted when one pays attention, it is easily overlooked because of its small size. Often, it grows near brooks and streams in rural areas.
The name ‘myosotis’ is derived from Greek, meaning “mouse-ear” because of the shape of its small leaves.
The forget-me-not is native to Eurasia and a part of the ‘boraginaceae’ family, and there are 50 species of it - most have the same beautiful sky-blue petals, though some are a soft pink.
