🦉If you haven't seen it before, Flowerbound is a crunchy but expressive and prosocial sex TTRPG. With classes called "Gendertropes", plants called "Erosynthites", and magical monsters called "Orgasmophages", it's got a hell of a setting.

What it doesn't do is proscribe how sex "should" work. There's no win condition, except what the players add themself. Sex ends when someone is exhausted, unable to get off, or when the involved characters just want to stop. "XP" is assigned on orgasm, with different pools for getting off, getting someone else off, or getting off simultaneously. It's rules light regarding the rest of roleplay, but still has a familiar stat against DC system.

I particularly love how the system handles unusual body shapes. Essentially, any organ can be Squished, Grabbed, Penetrated, Ensheathed, Or do those actions. EG, Hands can Squish, Grab, be Grabbed, Penetrate, or be Ensheathed. Organs also have a Contour (how much they can pleasure something) and an Erogeny (how much pleasure they can receive). This makes it easy to homebrew new organs to fit in any character.

There's also a lovely Rock-Paper-Scissors element, when characters want to, well, sex-fight. Grinding beats Teasing, Thrusting breast Grinding, Teasing beats Thrusting.

🦎Downside of playtesting an unfamiliar game engine with your friend's characters, you might not get an accurate picture of the base rules.

Case in point: I spent 30 minutes digging into why jasper was orgasming to a "mere" 12 stimulation of kissing, when 12 stimulation is well below her overstim threshold. Well turns out, 12 stimulation is the oral equivalent of a 10 minute long, deep throatfucking and she just isn't overstimmed by that.

Second I did the same thing to a default character ,they're choking and going numb from overstimmed, so I guess the math was fine

🦎Today for Flowerbound text game dev log: Added Toy Data, Documentation, Actions (Purchase, Summon, Equip, Unequip), and made it possible to use Toys for Maneuvers and Moves.

Simplest version, you can now summon a dildo, grab it, put it in a partner, and fuck them silly with it. But since the game system is so dynamic, you could instead summon say Cuffs, grab them with your Prehensile Tail, then lock one side onto your hand and the other onto your partner's hand.

I'm really sad that this is the last day of my time off work. I think with another week I'd have everything but the Gendertrope Features done, and with a week beyond I'd have the whole game digitized with Save Game and Mod Loading. We'll probably keep poking at it for the rest of the month but the pace is going to slow down for sure.

🦎Flowerbound TTRPG text videogame slowly slowly getting playable. Not fully featured, not even CLOSE to that, but playable. "Put your hands between her legs and finger her to climax" levels of playable, which is clearly an important checkpoint in the process.

Next is making it, well, /enjoyable/ to play, which is gonna require a LOT more feedback than it's got currently. Like rn you can't tell how aroused you are without reprinting the character menu, and even then it's stats. I want to status screens like "jasper is deeply aroused. jasper is craving more. jasper is reaching her limit."

🐴 Looking up examples of moddable effects data classes and realizing that there is a reason most moddable games use uncapped values.

"Gain 5 Gold" -> Really easy to mod in. Gold is a single number, it can go up as much as it wants, this isn't hard to program.

"Deals 1d6+[Str mod] Damage" -> A bit harder to mod in, One Action Damage_Roll now needs access to the character object to resolve its effect. But at least the "minimum" is handled somewhere else (something else is doing the "HP cannot go below 0" part) "Your Arousal cannot drop below your Ardor" -> much harder to mod in. All Actions now need access to the character object to resolve their effects.

Either you need to add a new stat (minimum_arousal) to coordinate this, OR you need every state change to be aware of the entire character object and a /much/ more complicated system for handling effect interactions. (Something like "When Arousal drops, Arousal cannot go below Ardor" and a way to trigger on arousal reductions, and a way to register interceptors).

Point being, I'm realizing that my goal for this game engine is actually wildly ambitious.

Flowerbound TTRPG CLI progress 11-29

🦎Put in another 8ish hours today. Working: Character Creator (Stats, Moves, Features, Bodyplan), Levelup system, Injury system, Rest system, Move Learning system, Room Creator, and Basic Encounters(StartTurn, GentleManeuvers, Uncontested Moves)

I haven't yet gotten a character to Orgasm, but I'm pretty sure it's possible now!

Not Done: Firm/Violent Maneuvers, Contested Moves, Features (except for giving Moves to the character), Conditional Appendages, Move special abilities, Persistant Effects, Advantage, Toys, Gravity, and also missing half the Gendertropes. Plus a lot of cleanup, adding more visual feedback to actions and state-changes, more color.
