The screwdriver made a clack as Rick slammed his hand onto the work bench, still gripping onto the tool. "J-Jesus, that's not how it works," He began, gritted through his teeth. "I-It's a very sensitive piece of highly advanced technology, from the likes o-of what your small pea-sized brain couldn't even begin to imagine,"

Was he a little harsh? Yeah, he was. Though, that's what happened when he was tipsy in the daytime. In the presence of some teenager, one that he didn't care all that much for. Annoyance mixed with alcohol consumption, adding to the fact that his gadgets were being examined, and he wasn't about to hold back.

"D-Don't you have fucking homework or something? S-Someone to hang out with? Sum-Sum and Morty are s-somewhere, I don't know, go fucking find them."

this   whole   situation   feels   so   fucking   surreal ,   c-136   can’t   shake   the   dazed   suspicion   that   he   might   simply   be   dreaming .   the   last   few   hours   have   been   total   chaos .   here   they   are ,   lost   in   the   midst   of   this   overgrown   alien   planet   together ,   stepping   over   mutilated   alien   corpses   and   idly   chit - chatting   as   though   this   is   something   they   get   up   to   regularly .   

honestly ,   he’s   gotta   figure   she   must   get   caught   up   in   this   kind   of   shit   sometimes ,   by   how   well   she’s   taken   it   in   stride   ---   morty   blinks   across   at   the   girl   owlishly ,   only   to   awkwardly   bluster   upon   holding   her   gaze   a    little   too   long .   hastily   he   busies   himself   with   twiddling   with   the   settings   of   the   high - tech   gun   in   his   grip   to   play   it   off ,   swallowing   thickly ,   before   he   cracks   a   sheepish   grin .

there's  things that never change  in  your  absence  ,  the  way  she  approaches  you  seems  to  be  exactly  the  same  &  the  way  you  feel  yourself  cringe  is  just  the  same  ,  staring  at  the  taller  with  that  emotionless  gaze  and  a  deadpan  expression  .  nonetheless  ,  she's  still  a  jessica  ,  &  no  matter  how  much  you  wish  you  weren't  .  you're  still  a  morty  .

Morty stared at the pin in his hand for perhaps a moment too long, blinking down at it in confusion. On one hand, he appreciated the gesture, because it was a gift and because it was from Jessica, or rather, a version of Jessica that he had quickly started to like much better than his own. Not just as a potential crush, but also, and especially, as a potential friend.

“Uh, I...T-Thanks?” He awkwardly said, raising his eyes towards her. “I...Your grape. I-It’s a pun, right? I-It’s like ‘you’re great’, b-but with grapes, because there’s, uh, grapes on it and...”

His voice trailed off into a slightly forced chuckle. He needed to shut up because he was making a fall of himself. Again. Shut up, shut up, shut up.

“Tha-That’s a good one,” he finished, managing a slightly more sincere grin. “An-And it’s really cute, so...thanks. I-I...Uh, let me put it on.”

He clumsily opened the pin, managing not to accidentally stab himself as he attached it to his T-shirt. He fidgeted with it for a moment, before looking back at her.

“Y-You know, you should were one too. B-Because...your grape too.”
