Since Nina hadn’t managed to catch Mikoto before they left for work, Nina had taken the flowers she purchased home and properly cut and arranged the bouquet to her own liking and then placing them in a vase. After tying a violet ribbon around the vase, Nina placed the card she had made for her partner next to the flowers. She had used watercolour pencils to paint a cherry blossom tree onto the card, and then used a calligraphy pen to write inside the card:
Happy Flower Festival! <3
Nina just wanted to let you know how much she appreciates you and everything you do to make Nina happy. You are the moon to Nina’s stars, and Nina has never felt happier than she does now, with you. So, thank you for being Nina’s most beloved and treasured person, for now and forever.
Love forever and always, Nina <3
It had been a late shift today, so by the time Mikoto made it home it was dark out. They flicked the light on in their room, exhausted, and looked up to spot a vase full of bright flowers on their side table. They froze, just staring at it for a long moment, then approached the vase carefully, a smile lifting their heart.
They gently took the card and read it over, eyes filling with adoration. Then they folded it again and slipped it into their drawer for safe-keeping, flopping onto the bed. The officer glanced over at the flowers, staring happily, then stood up quickly again. They scribbled out a message on their own card and slipped into Nina’s room quietly, setting down the single pink peony they held and their card. Then, they returned to their room fo rest.
Happy Flower Festival to you as well.
Normally I would write you a longer note, perhaps a poem even, describing my love for you. But unfortunately I am very tired. So in the morning, I shall recite to you a poem instead.
You are my one and only, Mikoto
