this makes me wonder if this mod could have actually been really interesting if it was just self-aware abt what its relationship was actually like and was willing to tackle that

oh my god yeah. i mean it would still have to involve better writers bc beneath everything else theres just like. a fundamental inability to make good characters lol but with a lot of adjustment it could ABSOLUTELY be a story about an aggressive manchild who grows to love you but in a really awful possessive way in which he thinks he knows whats best for you and feels threatened by anything that could possibly take you away from him so attempts to cut you off from the rest of the world, lapsing from cruel to sweet as soon as he gets what he wants. 

bc thats kind of what the mod is but it is absolutely 100% uncritical and probably unaware of it. it could be a story that criticizes the notion that every nasty piece of shit asshole man just needs the Delicate Touch of Woman to be turned nice. and you could leave him at the end or kill him to death with wizard spells and go on with your life

As you can see here, if you trace back equidae (horses), bovidae (includes cows), and canidae (dogs), equidae and bovidae share a more recent common ancestor than either of those groups and canidae- so horses and cows are closer than either of them to dogs!
