I just flurry rushed off a fucking cliff
It’s a beautiful day here in Akkala and I’m just minding my own business and am hassling a lynel.
So BOTW Link has an ability previously unseen in other Heroes. Bullet Time AKA the Flurry Rush.
I have an idea on why.
But first I’m gonna talk about his predecessor, the Hero of War.
HW Link has the strength to slay thousands of monsters at a time; and as no one blinks an eye at this trainee going ham when they barely slay one boko 10 to 1, we can theorize that either certain bloodlines have this ability or Hyrule itself or the Golden Goddesses grants certain fighters this power, which would be why Tetra, Agitha, Marin and King of Red Lions can do this as well as other Links and the native fighters.
But for this theory specifically we’ll do both: certain bloodlines have this strength naturally, and during times of war Hyrule itself grants individuals this ability.
Second, I’m gonna talk about the Child Timeline.
The Hero’s Shade is the ancient Hero of Time, forced to remain in the living world because he couldn’t pass his skills on. In Hyrule he takes the form of a golden wolf. The Hero of Twilight too takes the form of a wolf.
Of what we know of BOTW Link’s heritage, his hometown is Hateno and his father is a member of the Royal Guard.
During Age of Calamity, no one blinks an eye at this normal soldier who forgot his helmet going ham when they barely slay one boko 10 to 1. I doubt it’s well-known, but Link’s close soldier buddies would know his father is in the Royal Guard. (family resemblance too)
If they aren’t surprised at Link’s strength, then that means either the divine blessing in times of war is well-known, or Link is following in the footsteps of his father by having the same monster-slaying power.
And if we follow the family tree, it would eventually reach the Hero of War, who was an ancient general who became the captain of the Royal Guards and married.
BOTW Link forgot how to control this power, meaning he’s the first Link to break weapons.
Now for Flurry Rush.
Hateno is a farming town, just like Ordon, although it’s much bigger and the stables have dominated the sheep market and goats have returned to the wild.
For the Hero of Twilight, his potential love interests include Zelda, Midna and Illia.
Zelda is very unlikely, because goat farmer and queen. Midna broke the Mirror of Twilight, so unless Link goes on a dark magic hunt she’s also out of the picture.
That leaves Illia.
BOTW’s Hyrule is massive. Much bigger than TP’s Hyrule, and it would make sense for the kingdom to grow and for Ordon to become a Hyrulean settling. Which would mean that it would grow, particularly because of trade.
So Hateno=Ordon.
TP Link’s descendants live here, and one marries a member of the Royal Guard; a descendant of the Hero of War.
So:
The Hero of The Wild is the descendant of three Heroes: the Hero of War through his father, and the Hero of Twilight (and subsequently the Hero of Time) through his mother.
All three Heroes have time traveled; the War Across Ages, the Temple of Time dungeon, and the Ocarina of Time.
So in this sudden mix of genes, the time travel magic that latched onto their respective Heroes got turned into a subconscious control of time: bullet time.
Link’s bloodlines is also why Wolf Link can be summoned. Not only has Link died and come back to life, (making him an honorary member of the afterlife for now) but he is the third Hero to be connected genes-wise to other Heroes.
(Different anon) in regards to the bullet time, I actually always assumed it was Link's champion ability! Revali can create an updraft, Mipha can heal, Daruk can create a shield, Urbosa can summon lightning, and then Link can slow down time. And he can use it an infinite number of times instead of only three because it's his ability instead of being gifted to him, and he's been using it a lot longer, maybe? Just a little idea I had
I wholly accept and absorb this idea into my headcanons.
I might tweak that a bit though, because it makes more sense from a story standpoint to restrict his ability to combat situations. Like how Mipha is only useful if someone’s injured, and Daruk is only useful if he’s actively being attacked (because he can’t repel things if there’s nothing to repel, you know?). But I absolutely adore this concept. I’ll be stealing and running with it, please and thank you.
96 - Learn Your Lesson (Later) [REUPLOAD]
So I was looking through my Tumblr archive and discovered that this comic was hidden from public viewing because it contained “adult content” (and as you can plainly see, it DOES NOT!!!). I wouldn’t be as pissed about this as I am if it weren’t for the fact that I was NOT informed about this or given the chance to have it reviewed (and this happened one other time and I was told about it and appealed). So I’m just gonna reupload this one and hope that it sticks
