Description: The effects of Flux, insomnia and guilt.
Notes: So I wrote this drabble ages ago (according to the date on my drafts I started this in the Christmas holidays - that's December 2013, guys, DECEMBER) This was going to be a fic I was gonna put up when the whole Flux!Kim thing first happened; but it ended up not really going anywhere for a fic, and being the perfectionist I fretted over it.But, anywho, here it is!
Side note: I'm also super in love with the hc about Chaotic Neutral Lalna.

“Lalna, you LOCKED me in that tower!”
Okay, so the scientist may have sort-of, forgotten about his apprentice…at some point. He was so used to the vast and majorly empty castle he had built for himself and his machinery. He hardly slept at all; who needed sleep when there was so much sorting and experiments to be done, right?
Lalna felt a pang of guilt, he’d gotten too caught up in sorting out the rest of his castle, he had forgotten his apprentice. How anyone could forget a muddy person fall out of the sky and into your home is unfathomable to most. Yet, to Lalna it wasn’t exactly a foreign experience. He had checked up on her, but she had been asleep.
“Better asleep than awake, Christ! What have you got yourself into?!” He had thought.
He assumed she might have just left after some time, as people often did. As equipment updated, and the old became un-sortable -turned to sand, one-by-one people had left. The Jaffa factory, Sipsco… and there he was. Engines thrumming, quarries mining, but no sound of the life there used to be outside of his castle. He had driven her away- played dangerous games, toyed with her; and now it was his fault that she had crashed into the flux dome, that would have inevitably made her leave.
But now Kim was standing in the doorway, frowning and accusatory, purple tendrils coiling around her wrists. That would be his fault. He gave a nervous laugh and shrugged it off.
“It wasn’t that secure; I sealed it with dirt.” “I thought you’d have broken out easily” “I’m sure it won’t be anything to worry about.” Lalna said to her, backing away so that Kim didn’t touch him. Her fiery purple arms didn’t actually look bad, but nevertheless, it did worry him. He had no experience with such a potent amount of flux, and there was no way he could predict what might happen or how dangerous it would be. If it got onto him, now, that could be serious.
But that still didn’t mean he couldn’t observe the effects. The scientist talked of continuing the ‘apprenticeship’ still, reassuring her that the flux would possibly not affect her. His words may have had some effect, as Kim seemed to calm after awhile.
“S-s-still, it looks cool, though” He winced. “The purple…. What ever it is….”
Kim chuckled, looking at her own hands “ Yeah, I guess so” And she seemed much her old self again. Things had continued how they used to when Nano was around before, which was how Lalna liked it to be. He figured out he could touch her hands and arms with no problems, which gave him some relief.
However, still wary of her condition, he checked up on her whenever he got the chance. The scientist didn’t know if strange could cover what he felt about checking up on his apprentice in the night, but it was the word he would use. Nano would look so comfortable, contented. He’d feel his own eyelids get heavy as he sat to keep watch of her through the portal; and for the fist time, in an awful amount of time, the scientist actually slept. It may have been a stone floor, but as he had said to Kim many times; he didn’t have a bed… at least, he didn’t remember making one, anyway.
Looks like I may not be going to comic con (waaaah ini ), but thought I'd give Flux!Kim cosplay a go anyway :3 Think I'd do both eyebrows black if I did it again x
