After seeing a bunch of content of Stolitz this week, I am thinking today in how smart it was from their part to make think of them as a couple. Also, how compelling they are and to see how a lot of artists see them the same way I do, or write them the same way I would too! I find this so interesting because it never had happened to this extent with other couples or ships I like.
After a lot of time it has payed off. How the contrast between them makes for such a compelling story and how different this couple is from the usual class division lovers trope, because usually the high class person is way over the top and even if Stolas is too, we learn that he is like that to overcompensate how low he feels, because he feels like that in comparison to the people of his social class even if he is such a higher up. It makes for a compelling story and character once you get it.
In this case, Blitzø is the low class person that is near to the low class person trope, in the sense he has the road experience and skills of someone that had to earn a life in the street. But, at the same time he feels so insignificant, so, he wants to challenge that. It is not just that he ends up falling in love with a rich person, it is that he is someone that wants to take advantage and to climb as much as he can using said person; but that end up falling in love with that person.
Is not easy for me to like a romantic couple, because as a romance story lover you see things a lot of times or the romance is not justified ( BYW, this is more common in f/m couples BY far, in a lot of mainstream movies mainstream romance is just used as a cherry on top for the protagonist, or they fell just because the script says).
I know mainstream straight romance has received a lot of revisionism and criticism in the post modern times. Which makes sense that Stolitz is also scrutinized and I am not against that at all, but, why some rushed eps or an execution that wasn’t done so well ruin the couple so much for them? I don’t get that.
I am just happy to see that even if they don’t work for some people, which is fine, there are so many people and content creators that see them the same way I do.
