DIY Fly Spray?
If using an oil, use a carrier oil in addition to help diffuse it better.
Seems overall that the chemicals, esp DEET, honestly work better tho. Maybe I’ll save chemicals for the vet and farrier then.
CITRONELLA:
Contains geranoil which is commonly used in green fly sprays.
A study claims that citronella is effective, just not as effective as DEET (of course). (3)
Another study says that citronella is as effective as DEET initially but quickly fades. (4)
both studies suggest mixing with vanillin to up efficacy. (so vanilla essential oil?)

LAVENDER:
Supposedly the smell repels insects.
Some studies suggest it repels insects.
Bonus calming effect maybe? Also smells good.

APPLE CIDER VIENGAR:
Confusing because can also be used as a fly bait in a drowning fly trap?
Also stinks.
Cheap tho.
It’s implied it does not work as a deterrant but a bait! It smells like rotting fruit to the flies which the flies like.
