haahaaaaa i tricked you you're forced to listen to my hcs now. this is less me giving an opinion on each ship and more using this chart as a tool to explain the way i see the dynamics here. also i just think it's lovely i like charts. okay here goes

first of all calaberg is already canon in my mind it just works. the're actively in pining mode, hilda is waiting for the ideal conditions™ to confess and cala knows but doesn't say anything bc she wants her (almost) gf to do things her own way. it's also just really endearing to her. hilda likes the city but now she visits even more often just to see her starshine <333 they like to give each other small trinkets as appreciation.

cagney and goopy are obviously aware. they met cala once or twice but she's a charmer and immediately won them over and now they're pushing hilda to just "date the nice mermaid girl" !!! and yes the 3 of them are besties. ofc. i also think goopy looks up to the frog bros and their skills. a lil celebrity crush if you will

big fan of carnival trio polyamory, i just couldn't leave them out. they kiss and hold hands it's true. male mom (bon bon) neurodivergent dad (djimmi) and their woke dog (beppi) respectively. i don't think they officially label it though, they're just super close and love each other, that's enough. there's something about baroness sharing the sweets domain with rumor too. im not sure myself but like the potential is there

grim and wally are buddies !!! somehow. excuse me he asked for no pickles type of friendship, wally stands up for him and in turn grim keeps him from getting ahead of himself. grim is also the #1 babysitter option and he wants to be reliable but at the same time it's so anxiety inducing he feels like he's dying. willy is sceptical of him so far, sometimes even using that to his advantage to get away with stuff wally usually wouldn't let slide

rumor and sally would be friends too. sally is really fascinated with rumor's magic (she wants her spellbook so bad) and rumor just seems like the type to enjoy theatre 🙏

i like thinking werner lives in kahl's lab (which ties in nicely to the ep he had a cameo in hehe). the doctor tried to kick him out at first but then realized this smug german rat is basically the only one who he can have evil genius discussions with so now they're roommates. they always argue over the smallest things and try to one-up each other with their inventions. room for toxic yaoi. meanwhile automaton absolutely adores katzenwagen like "kitty detected. positive connotation."

also wouldn't it be super cute if automaton had a crush on cala for a while ... it's the first time they've seen someone as big as them, it's curious and impressed and infatuated. it went away pretty quickly though and he realized that he just wanted to be friends. giant solidarity !!!

the phantom express are a big messy family. they want to blow each other up so badly but it's just the way they are. tough love <3

and devildice is ooobviously semi canon in my head. they had something going on im sure but they split some time after the bros kicked their asses. devil really misses dice but would rather die than admit it
