Since I'm talking Naruto there's somethin I noted about his third encounter with Itachi: Itachi trusted him because he was intent on not letting Sasuke or Konoha perish. So that means Itachi was looking for someone who'd value both equally, 1/2

August 7th 2015, 4:05:00 pm · 2 hours ago2/2 supposedly because that's what he did and perceived as right. If that's so, what Obito told Sasuke about his life meaning more to Itachi than Konoha isn't true. Btw Obito could have lied about a bunch of things. Like the koibito controversy.

We have to remember that Obito was trying to get Sasuke on his side at the time. Itachi valued both equally, but was not willing to put Sasuke’s life above the village in the sense that Sasuke would die for its peace. 

He was willing to kill in the village’s name, but the one person he would NOT kill, no matter what, was Sasuke. He would always find a way around it, that was the one person that duty could not bring him to kill. 

I do agree on the lover thing. Obito could very well be lying, because really, Sasuke is having the most difficult time believing ANYTHING Obito says. What better than to make up a boyfriend/girlfriend, a lover, and claim that Itachi was in love with someone but could bring himself to kill them because of orders? It certainly suddenly makes Sasuke sound more important if Itachi would prioritize his baby brother over romantic love.

Ok but one problem you get across when considering Itachi'd go for Sasuke's rescue if Konoha couldn't do it somehow is /Akatsuki/. What about Kisame? His schedule(did he have a schedule i think so)? Aaand, when Sasuke went to Orochimaru's place, did Itachi get to know it was by choice (because there was a rescue team after him, it might give one some other impression) and how did he get that information?

Itachi is in Akatsuki, yes, but Itachi also has ridiculous amounts of free time. I mean, RIDICULOUS amounts of free time. They’re always paired off traveling and the only semi-important things they do inbetween Jinchuuriki hunting are mercenary missions. Should Itachi feel like traveling to a specific country that has his little brother, he most certainly can. Unless Akatsuki at the moment has another mission for them, Kisame will gladly come along. He will assume Itachi is rescuing Sasuke so he dies at a later date. 

As for Sasuke and Orochimaru, this one is mostly fueled by headcanons-- but it’s not entirely without canon basis. Jiraiya mentions he has an Akatsuki informant to Kakashi once, in canon, but...we never know who this is, really. Many (including myself) theorize that this is Itachi himself, given he is literally a double-spy, but though Jiraiya having a spy and Itachi BEING a spy are both things confirmed within canon material, Itachi specifically being Jiraiya’s spy is never something that’s confirmed, though heavily theorized.

By this line of information he could discover that Sasuke abandoned his village, cementing that it was his choice, and not that of a kidnapping.
