Did Itachi really love Izumi? ... In my opinion, no... What do you think?
[[ I've answered this before.
First of all, if this is your opinion, why ask me? I'm not the be all/end all of relationship questions. I love analysis, but I'm also a person with my own opinions. I'm not Kishimoto.
If you truly believe Itachi did not love Izumi, I cannot and will not change your mind.
My opinion is that people expect Itachi/Izumi to function like most fandom ships where they love is super obvious/obsessive/almost toxic in nature. And this is where they get the idea that he didn't love her at all, because he was never obsessive, or feral.
Not all relationships have to be like that for it to count as love. Just because Itachi and Izumi would've gotten together quietly and raised children in peace (within the context of the genjutsu future he had her see) doesn't mean it isn't real love.
Sasuke would still come first, and that's fine. That doesn't diminish what Itachi and Izumi had. He had no issues with her and wanted to keep her safe, and he clearly saw himself being able to settle and raise children with her. That's a good thing. Considering a lot of the most popular Naruto ships involve one party trying to aggressively kill the other at some point, ItaIzu wins. There's nothing like that here. You don't need all of that drama to have a stable relationship.
ItaIzu is pretty boring and that's a positive note in their ship. He can be in love with her without treating her like another Sasuke.
And again, at the end of the day- people will ship what they want. You don't have to like it or agree with it. It might not make sense to you, but it'll make sense for someone else. ]]
I needed more screen time with this design
Trying something simpler this time. If only their lives could've been simpler, too.
"I will always love you" 🍡🍅
I posted it on my Twitter, but I should post it here too~

a sasuke I drew for funsies :)
I really like your analysis, so I'm curious about your opinion. I just finished Shinden and it really bothers me that Itachi is being tried to be in a romantic situation with Izumi. Am I the only one who finds this romance very forced and one-sided? I really can't imagine such a characterless woman next to him. I always thought Itachi would be like Kakashi...
[[ Failing to see the "like Kakashi" part. Because Kakashi's single? I think Kakashi being single is more because Kishi couldn't really find someone to pair him with and it didn't make sense, not that Kakashi himself didn't wanna share his life with someone. But...! To try to answer your question. Hearing about Izumi when the sneak peeks of the novels first came out did bother me at first, then I just got over it. Yes, it's fairly one sided, but also... why does it matter? Itachi doesn't hate her. He wants to protect her by trying to shy her away from shinobi work. Hilariously a little sexist but Itachi is not that smart in that department.
The more I read, the more I don't mind. Again, Izumi is harmless, Itachi never had any negative feelings about her, and she's always been polite and kind to him. Romance doesn't always have to be "I would end the world for you" type. It can just be someone you get along with who cares about you. It's not always that dramatic.
Itachi got along with her and didn't want to see her hurt and he didn't mind at all settling with her had the massacre not occurred. They would've made a perfectly normal, boring (in a positive way), couple. Izumi also did not expect to be put above Sasuke. Do you know how disastrous it would be if Itachi's wife didn't get along with Sasuke?
TLDR it doesn't bother me. Izumi's fine. Itachi x Izumi is fine. It's a bit bland but it works in its favor. ]]

she looked up. A smile spread across her face. There he is!
“Baby come here!”
"Yes, Mother?" he replies politely, coming to her side but not necessarily in any hurry. He's a little thrown off by the pet name.
”I wonder..”
She drew a poor rendition of her eldest son. But instead of black, she colored his hair as yellow. “Hm… I think he could rock being blond.”
Maybe she should go find Itachi and compare.
Something tells him mother isn't....okay.
