charity events held by any of the companies always felt more like a publicity stunt to suji, but that didn’t change the fact that she was stuck here for the day. rather than trying to stay bitter about the extra schedule, she decided to focus on her upcoming comeback instead. most of the details were now figured out, and she’s gotten into the recording stage of it. there was still some back and forth happening between gold star and herself, but it’s pretty much confirmed that she’ll be having a summer comeback.

confirmed to the point that she can now freely talk about it. that’s how the conversation with jihoon started anyway. “i probably sound like a broken record, but i swear this one’s going to be a little different,” she explains with a chuckle. frankly, jihoon was not the person she had to convince about this concept change. it was the public, or whatever percentage of the public that will be tuning in to her next comeback. 

“imagine like pink clouds and a lot of fluffiness. i’m not sure what the official comeback headline is going to say, but i think that’s the concept we’re going for.” she’s never been too focused on the conceptual part of her albums. it was always more about the music for her, but this one was such a contract to her previous ones that it was fun to talk about. “how about you? is there anything on your plate in terms of music?”

a lot of the conversations that duri had had this evening involved music - which he definitely couldn’t complain about, since it’s one of his all time favorite things. a majority of it had to do with the fact that his next mini album is coming out in just a few days time, something that duri had always looked forward to. though, there was the thoughts of how it was going to do, though it follows his usual spectrum of his current releases with the vocal focused releases that he tends to do - a current comfort zone and something that always does well. that always seems to be the best in the eyes of bc entertainment, plus duri always enjoys doing the ballads and vocal focused songs. 

he finally exits another conversation with someone important in the industry, a usual thing to happen at events such like these. but, duri was more than okay with that because he always enjoyed talking about music - it’s the main thing that he does within his career, and he wouldn’t have it any other way. nonetheless, once the conversation had ended, his eyes fall upon jihoon, and excitement ensues. simply because it had been a while since duri had seen jihoon and gotten to talk to him, but also because duri finally got to praise tell me, jihoon’s debut mini album. 

“jihoon!” duri calls out, a happy giggle leaving his lips. he made his way over to the other quickly, much like an excited puppy does with a little bounce in the step. “ah, it’s been so long! i finally get to talk about your album!” he said with another happy giggle. “ah, it’s such a good album! i can’t stop listening to and watching 2u! you’re too good!”

flowers are seemingly one of duri’s favorite things, it was one of those little things that he quite enjoys. when he can, he’d place different flower vases around the house in a thought out manner based on interior design with flowers in the vases. it made a space feel fuller, in his experience, and just one of the ways that something felt more homey to him. plus, he just liked to look at them anyways and often the floral fragrance from the flowers were something of comfort to duri. which would probably explain why he was in the flower shop at gangnam station. 

“is there something special you’re here for?” duri asked, eyes looking around the flower shop with a happy giggle. “i’m not entirely sure what i want just yet... there’s always so many choices to make here,” he says. he wasn’t sure he wanted to go with his normal bouquet that he always gets of red roses, sunflowers, and lavenders. he thinks about going for something a bit different, maybe something for autumnal themed. that seemed like a good choice, truth be told. so, he’s going to simply keep his eyes peeled out for anything that goes along with that. 

“i always like just having flowers around the house,” he said, a small chuckle leaving his lips. “i think it always ends up making the atmosphere really nice, so i think i might get a few bouquets,” he explains. “and i think i’m going go for more autumn flowers and colors, rather than going for my favorites. just to switch it up!”

snacks were all gathered up by duri. he placed them on the coffee table in the living room, opening the bags, just so they’d be able to share. normally, a meal would be shared and probably a dessert, considering that was just how duri and jihoon had always been when it came to hanging out. but, today, it seemed that a bunch of snacks were most appropriate. of course, duri could always cook if they ended up getting hungrier - since duri always enjoyed cooking no matter what. he was sure to place them all out and organized in some odd way, but something that made sure to duri, nonetheless. 

“don’t worry, the dogs won’t touch the snacks,” he says, giggling softly. “they might just stare at you, hoping you drop something! though, i apologize if peanut yells, just ignore him, he’ll leave you alone. he’ll only yell more if you tell him no,” duri explained, before another giggle left his lips. “i don’t drink, but i do think there’s some alcohol in the fridge if you want it!” he said, a nod leaving his head. he was sure he saw it in there, always sure to keep it on hand for those that wanted it. 

“do you want to play some mario kart?” he asked. duri was always up for the more simpler games, in same way, and he always liked mario kart. “we can also play mario party too, if you want! i do have some other games as well if those don’t tickle your fancy either!”

second week of rehearsals, off camera

truthfully, the rankings for the first round were unexpected. well, she’s not sure if she should say that when she had also picked catalyst as the weakest stage, but she had said that only because she really wasn’t sure who to pick. plus, she did think the concept to their song was a little off and despite the members being talented, it just felt all over the place. 

nevertheless, when she ends up bumping into jihoon in the halls of gold star as they’re preparing for their next round, she can’t help but feel a bit of guilt. clearing her throat, she slowly made her way towards him before giving him a poke on the arm. “hey, how are rehearsals going? that is, if you can say.” there were no cameras around them at the moment, but they did have microphones on. realizing this, she reaches over to turn off her own mic pack. they could all use some moments without the production crew potentially spying on them.

she didn’t want to ask about his feelings on the last round, but she thinks they’ll come out when he starts discussing the current round they were preparing for. there were all kinds of remixes that played through the hallways so she wasn’t even sure what song catalyst ended up with.

last week of rehearsals, off camera

“excuse me.” dry, much too dry. after finishing practice, one of the longest days so far since her schedules had finally started slowing down, kiana made the grave discovery she’d forgotten one of her daily essentials in another bag. she’ even cleaned herself up before the discovery, which only made the gross feeling on her skin all the worse. in another circumstance, she wouldn’t think to bother someone outside of her group or staff, especially a man in a situation when cameras could show up at any minute, but she was starting to feel desperate. “do you happen to carry any unscented lotion? i’ve forgotten mine at home.”

it helped that this idol was a nice one. what conversations they did have stuck out to kiana, a hard enough feat on its own, let alone for a younger and junior idol. “it’s nice to see you again, by the way. i hope you’ve been well. how are your plants doing these days?” was the plant talk too much? she hoped he wouldn’t become bored of her being so one-track minded.

@fmdjace, august 4th/round two performances filming - on camera.

oddly enough, it felt rather nice not having to perform on the day of filming reactions when everyone else was going. in general, he felt really grateful that titan didn’t have to film a performance today and instead, it was filmed today. he was going to get to relax that day mainly and pay attention to the performances. he wasn’t sure if that was more nerve wracking, since titan already went, or if it was a blessing disguise. at least he had the chance to rest his leg for the day, until more rehearsals would amp up once again for another round of crowned, right? he did his best to simply just shake it all off and look forward to seeing everything going on. 

there was late arrival when it came to titan, due to the fact that they won last week, and filmed yesterday, not having to attend rehearsals this morning. he walked in, bowing towards the staff that was there, as well as towards those around with cameras. he was going to make his way to the dressing room, and that’s when he comes upon a familiar face, a friendly face at that. “hi jace!” he said when he had approached the other. generally, he was curious how the other was feeling cause he knew it had to be hard after the first round. 

“how are you feeling about the performance today?” he asked, head titled a bit. “your outfit looks really cool!” he said, his smile beaming a bit more. he had wondered if the pressure was really settling in for everyone today. at least, duri knew that he had a bit of pressure, wondering how titan’s performance might fare upon the other performances. he was also feeling a bit pressured on if he, himself, did well, after being announced as the first round’s mvp. it already seemed like a lot.

there’s always something in the way -- a hike that means they have to focus a little more on walking than talking, an electrical mishap in the aftermath of said hike, a comeback in korea, a comeback in japan, a nonstop series of line readings and rehearsals and filming days and --

while all of his members are moving out, kim dowoon is too busy to even say goodbye. on a day in late may, when he’s finally tripping over himself into an already swiftly passing by summer, he’s finally sat side by side with jihoon in a company office. 

dowoon props his chin up on the heel of his palm and sighs, “you sure you’re in the right headspace for this?” their manager had pointed out the advice segment. it could be nice, they said, though there was the choice and the how to too, for the fans to hear from catalyst’s trustworthy leader, and catalyst’s variety social genius -- who else better would there be to answer their quandaries? truthfully, dowoon could think of a million other people but here he and jihoon were, ill-equipped as they were, as questions and situations already began to file in, before they’d even gone live. the situation was controlled of course -- they wouldn’t be answering anything crazy. the manager raises an eyebrow at them, but dowoon smiles, ever boyish, ever convincing, and then swivels back to jihoon. “we’ll take our time. people will like that anyways.”

the count winds down and then they’re on, left to their own devices with a steady influx of comments.

“what do you do when someone has the wrong impression of you?” reads dowoon. he pauses, stroking one puffed up, chipmunk cheek thoughtfully. “for me? i would just try to prove it to them otherwise. even if it took a long time to show it to them, i think it would be worth it, if they mattered to you. jihoon? what do you think?”
