Filming for the first episode of We Got Married has begun! Below, you’ll find all ten couples that will be participating in the special summer season. The first episode will revolve around the couples meeting each other for their first official “date” and the exchanging of engagement rings that they will wear until their weddings in a couple of weeks.
Note: The task under the cut is for participants. The commentator task(s) will come later since they will be in reaction to the events of the episode. The points available for this week total 4 points on your points page. Please post the starter for the thread for this week by Sunday, July 30 at 11:59PM EST in the tag #fmdwgm1
Prompt: Without knowing who their partner will be, all participants will arrive to their date location (listed below) and the identity of their future virtual spouse will be revealed. Their only clue to their partner’s identity will be the list they received IF they filmed the pre-task prompt. They will be filmed by a full camera crew at their location and will be expected to interact and continue their date naturally and mostly unscripted, although producers may occasionally prompt conversation topics revolving around promoting current work of the participants or potential drama. The main focus of the dates will be seeing how the couples interact and seeing them complete the missions given to each of them.
Missions: Before the meeting, the husband will be given a secret mission card and a pair of engagement rings, instructing him that both he and his future virtual wife must both be wearing their rings by the end of the date. How he chooses to make that happen is up to him. The wife will be given a secret mission card instructing her to achieve some form of skinship during the date, whether she initiates it or she convinces her partner to do so. Fulfilling these mission cards will give them more favorable circumstances in future episodes.
WEEK ONE: “FIRST DATE”
Admin Note: These only dictate the setting of the date, but if you have any questions, you may send me a message. The locations and couples were paired through random number generator and locations were inspired by those visited in actual We Got Married episodes or ideal date answers in the survey.

as miyoung arrived at the entrance of the trick eye museum in seoul, she was so nervous that she felt as if her stomach were full of butterflies fluttering around. she hadn’t gone on a date since high school, and while the virtual marriage was simply for the cameras, it still felt like she were going on a blind date. “ah, i’m so nervous,” she confessed sheepishly to the cameraman that walked beside her. “do you think my husband will like me? i’ll be surprised if he even knows who i am.” miyoung couldn’t help but confess such a thing; she only made her official debut barely a week ago, after all. the museum lobby wasn’t filled to the brim with people, but was still bustling enough that she wouldn’t be able to find her virtual husband within a few moments. the museum only opened less than an hour ago for the day, so people were still piling in to pay for their tickets and enter the exhibits; maybe she could find her husband there.
while she peered around the reception area and ticket counter, miyoung slipped her hand into her picket, fishing around and pulling out the list that was provided to her earlier that week. “here’s the only clue i have!” she confessed with a smile, presenting the list to the camera before turning on her heel and striding across the tile floor. “i wonder who my husband is...” miyoung murmured, trailing off while she focused on looking around for the person she would be virtually married to. in the process of examining the area, there was a familiar hunch of the shoulders that caught her eye. tall frame, dark brown hair, and even the slope of his nose as he turned his head to the side got her attention. “oh!” she exclaimed, stopping in her tracks and staring before hastily unfolding the sheet of names and scanning the list for a few moments.
her suspicions were confirmed soon enough, and as miyoung’s expression morphed into one of celebration, she turned to the camera and nodded toward the man a few meters away. “minhyuk-sunbae!” she mouthed, grinning proudly. if there was any male group in the industry that she’d recognize the members from off the bat, origin was that group; it also helped that they were from gold star media as well. jumping up and down for a moment, she beckoned the camera to follow her while she slipped the sheet of paper into her purse. “minhyuk-sunbae?” she called out gently and quietly, approaching him with a soft smile and tapping him on his shoulder. “are you looking for your wife?”
as ash stood outside the entrance to the amusement park he’d been driven to with a production assistant fussing over his outfit, he had to ask himself how he’d gotten here. he thought he’d escaped the dangerous jaws of a solo variety show appearance (well, it wasn’t technically solo, but he didn’t have his other members who were better at being interesting people to rely on). this is what he got for being hopeful about anything. why bc entertainment had decided to volunteer him as the last minute replacement for someone else was a mystery to him. out of all of their artists, the one who they were trying to keep from so much as breathing near a girl seemed like he should be the last choice to get fake married. when he’d raised that point, he’d gotten some line about image redemption and how not being seen with women would eventually become suspicious. we got married was a controlled environment based on the monogamy everyone thought he was so opposed to.
as soon as he’d somewhat gotten over that, he was told he’d be meeting his wife at an amusement park of all places and he took the time to ask his manager if this was we got married or a finely tuned machine of ash kwon torture. ash didn’t broadcast his fear of heights, but if someone searched deep enough, he’s sure they’d be able to find some profile or show where it’d been mentioned. to ash, an amusement park was of little use to him as anything other than a reminder that some people enjoyed plummeting at dangerous speeds toward the ground on a roller coaster.
“can you try to smile? you don’t want your wife to think you hate her,” ash’s manager interjected. in response, ash showcased a forced smile and took the card another production assistant held out to him. the cameras started rolling and he opened it, reading the mission and looking up just in time for someone behind the cameras to hold out a ring box. he pocketed it without a word. that wouldn’t make good tv, he was sure, but, surprisingly, no one made him redo the shot.
“is my wife waiting for me in there?” ash pointed toward the park, faking excitement for the sake of the cameras. he got a nod in response. “well, let’s go meet her then!” once he was inside the park—camera crew following him the whole way—he was ushered in one direction until he finally saw a familiar face.
jung eunae.
well, it could be worse, but there were also a lot of ways it could be better. he had nothing against her as a person, but the awkwardness between them had never faded and now he’d have to battle against that on top of his natural awkwardness on camera. instead of letting his feelings show on his face, he approached eunae with a wide smile. “jung eunae-ssi!” he exclaimed. it wasn’t how he’d usually greet her, but he hoped she’d understand having to keep up a different image on camera. “it’s good to see you. do you think we’ll be the bc couple or do you think they paired up other company mates?” awkwardness was already tinting his tone, but he hoped it didn’t read on camera.
Mark checked the names profiled to him a fourth time. He hoped that his virtual spouse saw trough his actions and is able to play along with his acting - because that's how he is facing the entirity of his participation in We Got Married as an extended character he is portraying. He knew how to delineate a whimsical persona and the married concept isn't new to him, already taking this role two times. Not satisfied with Carter already being in We Got Married, Dimensions decided that it's a good way to promote Mark even more -and so, bring even more money to the company.
Fans and non-fans are smitten with Ahn Min Hyuk and his company wanted the same response with not only the character, but the actor as well - they wanted Mark to be not only known as Asia Prince Charming but also as Asia Boyfriend Material. They didn't ask his estimation towards the subject or how he felt with it, just signing him up and not letting him know until the last minute. Enough to make him bitter but what he could do? He knows he is a puppet for his company but in the entertainment game, that's how it works: if you don't play by their cards, you never get to the finishing line and fade into oblivion just like many others artists. And Mark is already too far in the game to just give up.
Unlike his pre-task interview, they let him choose his clothing and his make up isn't as heavy, and that's good considering the date venue is informal and wearing suit and tie for such place is foreign and amateurish.
Anterior entering the establishment, he was handed a envelope and two small velvet boxes, opening both by the sheer of his curiosity. On the boxes,a beautiful engagement ring, probably picked up by his manager and on the envelope, the task for this week.
"- So by the end of the day, both os us must be wearing our rings?" he inquired to the camera crew behind him, but they didn't even move a finger. Well, at least he hoped it was that.
Squinting in the low light, he searched the rows of gaming machines for someone that also seemed inquiring, walking trough the loud bomb blasts and gunfire belching out the nearby shoot-em-up games. He saw her small face, she seemed lost and among the tall figures that played with the engines, she is rather small. Cute. Hiding the boxes on his coat, he smiled when their eyes met."- Hey," he knew her name and her group, Bae Yoorin from WISH, but they never talked before, besides the casual 'hello' and 'congratulations' from either music shows or awards." you seem like you're looking for someone. Perhaps...your virtual husband?"
