FMWS
From Moz With Style is a Mozambican style blog run by the duo Mauro França and Diogo Nhamposse which regularly offers with a different perspective of the genesis of an outfit through an insight into their lifestyle and their attendance to special events such as Mozambique Fashion Week.
The history of FMWS lies in the old days of Mauro in which he fought boredom of his quotidian entertaining himself with fashion blogs, amongst them The Style Blog which then spark the notion that Mozambique should have work of such kind. At the process of bringing this idea to live one obviously had to put a name onto it, this specific one derives from From Russia with Love, one of the many James Bond movies Mauro is fond of, particularly interpreted by Sean Connery. With the intention of a having a name that ‘represented the movement, us from this part of world with style to showcase around the galaxy’ From Moz With Style came to be.
In the come up of what FMWS is today are some past difficulties they had regarding the maintenance of it with no access to the Internet and reliance of a university to upload those posts until one day in which Wi-Fi was password-locked and currently the lack of a camera of their own.
They tell REPRESENT of the fuel to their drive which is their main goal, where they intend reaching and their country which they describe as a beautiful nation which needs them and their work and self-motivation as to achieving something as big as they vision.
When asked of which jobs were most marking to them, Diogo was straight forward as to say all of them were remarkable reasoning with the following statement ‘I’m able to gain new experience in every job we do, making me learn more about fashion and life’. Meanwhile Mauro opted for Prototype – Still rolling my pants, the first work done with the photographer, Faira Mesquita which can be viewed here: http://frommozwithstyle.blogspot.com/2013/05/prototype-still-rolling-my-pants.html?m=0
FMWS is distinct for the several collaborations presented with different Mozambicans that captivated them in their sense of style and were invited to join their movement. These are direct results of the name – to not only showcase their style but of Mozambique in general. With that came the initiative for the Crossing Borders series which is them working with Mozambicans residing around the world.
The duo collaborates in the sharing of different tasks leading to the finalization of a post – Mauro assuming the responsibility of managing the page and together with Diogo curating the work pre-post . After launching the post comes the analysis of its success through the feedback of the readers. They are inspired by collections, their daily basis and whichever they notice on the macro environment that is not present within. When asked ‘What would you do if you ran out of inspiration?’ they relied on discipline, in educating oneself to adapt by expanding their bounds of research breaking from the usual mere reflection on style to reading and exploring more of work of other people.
They hold plans that remain a secret for their future but in those they can reveal lie representing stores, travelling around Mozambique and who knows outside.
Once a hobby now a lifestyle having a vision of inspiring and globalizing that is FMWS for you.
