So I got Tales From the Pizzaplex #7 today, and I just finished reading the first story in it, the title story, Tiger Rock.
Basically, in this story, we meet an interesting child protagonist named Kai, as well as The Mimic's VR fursona, Tiger Rock.
Let's just say in order to understand what's going on in this one, you need to have read a lot of the previous stories in the books about The Mimic, including the bonus stories at the end of each Tales From the Pizzaplex book.
Tiger Rock has four different forms in this story: his tiger form, an owl form, a cat form, and a clock form.
As a tiger, Tiger Rock is a metallic white tiger made from metal molded to look like real fur. What few black stripes he has are faint, and are on his face. His teeth are translucent and glow with soft colored lights. He wears a huge, flowing white robe covered in sequins and crystal beads, made from threads that seemed to move in the light. He also wears white leather bell-bottom pants studded with gold baubles that look like they're "dancing and twirling". Tiger Rock also wears a gold medallion around his neck. His most striking features are his eyes: one glowing bright blue, the other glowing emerald green. He also talks more naturally than the other Pizzaplex characters, informally and using contractions, with a voice like a DJ's.
Tiger Rock claims to love learning, and is apparently multilingual. He not only speaks Hawaiian to Kai, but in the VR attraction where Tiger Rock is featured, he can also communicate with helper robots, even one named Henry whose only "language" is funny burping noises. Tiger Rock explains, "I know all kinds of languages. If it exists, I can learn it."
Tiger Rock's owl form is metallic white and has the same blue and green eyes. So is his cat form, and his clock form - a clock with a human-like face and a black nose - also has blue and green eyes.
I feel really bad for what happens to Kai in the end... like I said, it won't make sense unless you remember everything else you've read about The Mimic up until this point. Damn good story, though. I really wanna see Tiger Rock in an actual game. He sounds cool... too bad he's such a sore loser at hide and seek.
