IN HBTP Alec is trans and it’s heavily tied into his character. He wants the freedom to express himself without being judged.

Meg does love Alec but she doesn’t see Alec for who he really is and doesn’t accept him. She only sees him as her daughter. Something he’s not.

Meg had good intentions but doesn’t see how hurtful this is and that it’s only pushing him away.

Alec has been called bad ever since he expressed he was different. He’s been pushed to try to fit into a box he doesn’t fit in and it makes him feel hurt every time.

Kinda stupid question but would Meg protest and try to take back her parental rights even tho the decision has been finalized and Alec and Hazel are legally Lefty's

Yes constantly, for the following reasons:

Lefty manipulated the kids (he's offended by that statement)

Her kids love her (No they don't)

Lefty's a robot (the Judge already decided that was irrelevant)

Lefty's probably bribing the kids with pizza (Cue Lefty explaining he made raspberry jelly oatmeal for breakfast that day)

Lefty definitely had something to do with Alec being gay (actually pisses off the Judge with this statement)

Lefty wouldn’t have time for the kids (Hazel excitedly tells the Judge that they're going to the Zoo the next day and her dad promised to get Ice Cream for her and her brother)

Robots a bad influence (all of the Rockstars band behind Lefty to argue with her)

The kids are in danger (“The most amount of danger I'm in is when I'm in school with a bunch of angry teenagers and that has nothing to do with this”— Alec)

Eventually the Judge would just continuously deny requests for another hearing, and he'd tell other judges to watch out for Meg.

Just because a book says its the right thing to do doesnt mean its true, Meg. Its like saying the entirety of the fiction genre is real.
