Thinking about people causing trouble for Springtrap in his attraction and obviously he can’t physically remove them ‘cos that’s a customer we can’t do that. But N.Fredbear sneaks over to the attraction for a visit since he’s not needed at his own, sees this and scares people off due to his sheer size. Just walks up behind them and scares them off (all the teeth and claws help too).
Then Springtrap’s just all “aw my hero” and it’s all cute and fluffy.
Refitting Spring Bonnie to be Springtrap in the Halloween attraction was a good idea until it turns out they're really excited to just see if people wanna touch the fake corpse inside the suit.
Also the staff constantly lose Springtrap and N.Fredbear after closing. Like they’re not in each other's attractions and no one can ever seem to find them half the time.
They actually often hide out after closing in Plushtrap’s attraction. The rooms there are usually used for storage, and Plushtrap only uses them to hide in briefly during the game, so no one goes there too often, so the pair decided to secretly empty one out and shoved tarps and stuff in there so they can just cuddle up and nap. When someone does find them Spring’s usually draped across N.Fredbear in some way, sometimes with a tired little Plushtrap that snuck his way in at some point under an arm. He may look sharp and pointy but Spring assures everyone that he’s super comfortable.
I’m gonna ramble under this read more about the 6-month Halloween location in my FNAF AU ‘cos it sounds fun to me.
Between June - November, a limited-time Halloween location opens up! It’s basically like a small fairground with multiple spooky attractions, all fitted with at least one animatronic.
When Fredbear’s shut down years ago, the golden duo were both refitted for this location: Spring Bonnie was turned into Springtrap for the Fazbear Frights attraction, Fredbear was turned into Nightmare Fredbear for the Night Terrors attraction. (Note: There’s no dead body in Spring, it’s all fake!)
So for 6 months a year this attraction opens for the public and it’s just a bunch of spooky attractions featuring the FNAF 4 animatronics, Springtrap and the Help Wanted Halloween DLC duo; Grimm Foxy and Dredbear! It’s popular enough to continue opening every year.
Fun with Plushtrap/Nightmare Balloon Boy is aimed at a younger audience. So the kids can have fun with something much smaller.
Night Terrors can take 2-3 people at once, but they have to share a single flashlight. Only NM.Fredbear and Nightmarionne are in here all the time, but the other Nightmares cycle in and out on a schedule for people who want an extra challenge.
The Hallway Crawl is where NM.Freddy/Bonnie/Chica/Foxy are. It basically functions like its in-game counterpart.
Fazbear Frights only has one real animatronic, which is Springtrap. It functions like a haunted house too, like the in-game one was intended to be. The Phantom animatronics aren’t real, and are mostly tricks like the Pepper’s ghost illusion or other illusions to scare people.
Danger! Keep Out! is where the Jack O’ pair are located. For the first two months it’s just these two but every two months Grimm Foxy and then Dreadbear are added. Before this, however, this duo is usually out and available for pictures.
Since it’s only one static location, FazEnt usually sends out merchandise to all locations during the spooky season to promote it. So anyone can get the location’s merchandise even if they can’t travel out there. This is how Ina actually gets her sweet little Plushtrap Chaser; it was a new merch line they were testing for kids. To take a little bit of the attraction home.
A lot of the locations also hold their own Halloween celebrations, though on a smaller scale. This is the one time of year they actually remove the withered animatronics from storage at the FNAF2 location! Between 9PM and midnight between September and October people can come up to the restaurant doors and try their luck at a game of Trick or Treat. They used to use the Toys for this until they realised the Withered animatronics still functioned, at which point they traded them out. Though Balloon Boy and Mangle being involved still was unintentional since they keep sneaking into the attraction. No one really seems to mind, though.
It was a quiet night in the restaurant, things winding down before the day shift would come in. No one expected their new guest, however.
Note: I wrote this as a funny little drabble in the span of an hour, so it’s not really refined and might be a bit rambly/incoherent. Just a cute idea I was considering maybe for the future at...3AM as I write this.
At 5AM things seemed to calm down in preparation for the 6AM chime.
By this point everyone had gone their separate ways, most back to hover near their spots for during the day. Ina had followed suit, leisurely wheeling the office chair back to its rightful spot behind the desk to idly flick through the cameras. She could almost doze off, if not for the sudden ringing of the phone startling her as she snapped back into a sitting position to eye it warily. If she was due a call it was at the beginning of her shift, and any day staff knew to call from 6AM and onward if they needed to call in for anything. Even so she picked it up, continuing to flick through the cameras once more as she held the phone to her ear.
“Uh, Freddy’s?”
There was an amused huff of air before a voice replied much too cheerily for the time. “Is that really your best Fazbear greeting?”
Ina relaxed immediately, recognising the familiar voice of Robert. “I can work on it, but I don’t really see myself doing too well as the Fazbear receptionist,” she joked in response before frowning. “You don’t sound sick.”
“Good observation. I’m just needing you to open the back doors, I’m bringing a truck.”
“Well… alright. Should I move everyone?”
Robert hummed. “Nah, s’just me. Eira’s watching the kids for me. I’m the delivery boy today.”
At that Ina raised a brow, getting to her feet and grabbing her keys. A glance into the darkened hall in front of her told her there were at least three sets of curious animatronics eavesdropping. “And what exactly are you delivering?”
“It’s a surprise. Just have those doors open.”
Robert abruptly hung up, leaving Ina to listen to the droning tone of the phone before she placed it back in the holder and stepped back from the desk, swinging the set of keys around a finger before walking down the hall with a confused frown.
“What is it?” One of the pairs of blue eyes, the shorter pair, spoke up with a tilt of the head. Toy Freddy. Ina simply replied with a shrug.
“Just stay here. We’ll find out once I let him in.”
Ina picked up the pace at the sound of tires crunching against gravel as she approached the double doors, slipping the keys in and unhooking the bolts at the top and bottom of the door before unlocking and pushing the doors wide. She didn’t expect the white van of all vehicles to be sitting there, Robert already exiting to pull open the sliding door at the side.
She also didn’t expect to come face to face with what looked to be an animatronic. Not an animal, but she could see the seams at the joints. The head was definitely neither human nor animal.
Robert seemed ready to move things along, holding out a hand to seemingly assist the stranger down before they instead hopped down with ease, rocking the van in the process. They didn’t even seem to notice the two humans before they bounced on into the restaurant with what Ina assumed was curious eyes. Aside from the two long antennae where ears usually sprouted from and a long seam that seemed to be a functioning mouth, said mouth opening eerily wide as the animatronic spun in possibly silent awe, their face didn’t seem to have much in the way of expressions.
Things seemed to fall silent as the animatronic continued spinning, examining the small area before they seemed to emit a series of squeaks, as if imitating speech, before they skipped deeper into the restaurant, the large black and pink bow at their waist bouncing behind them, leaving the two staff members staring, one much more confused than the other.
“Who or...what did you just bring?” Ina asked softly once Robert had slid the van’s door closed and approached, arms crossed as he watched with a twinkle of amusement in his eyes.
“That would be Oakley! New kind of animatronic they’re trying out. Supposed to be some instrument; otamatone or something? Can’t talk, but they can...make that sound,” Robert explained with a shrug as if not entirely sure himself. “They’re only here until the rest of the line-up's done and their own restaurant opens. As a sort of promotion.”
Ina nodded slowly before they fell into silence. Robert quickly broke it with a clap of his hands as he began to back up.
“Anyway, I gotta take this van back and pick up some tired kids from a very patient co-worker. I’ll see you in about an hour and a half,” Robert quickly excused himself as he hurriedly hopped back in the van and drove off, leaving Ina to secure the doors once more and leave to locate the temporary addition to the restaurant. It didn’t take long.
Ina had barely taken a few steps before a loud shriek rang out through the pizzeria, followed by an almost exact copy with a much less familiar voice. The night guard silently cursed Robert before she hurriedly moved to catch up to the energetic new addition.
She had to take a moment to compose herself as she turned into the main dining area and locked eyes with the stage. Oakley stood in front of it, bouncing lightly on their feet in barely contained excitement as they seemed to blankly stare at the four animatronics crowded together, ears low and eyes wary until Mangle locked eyes with Ina barely holding herself together at the sight. The fox wordlessly tried to ask for assistance which Ina was happy to give.
“Hey, guys! I see you’ve met Oakley! They’re gonna be hanging out with us until their location opens, so be nice.”
Four more heads snapped to look in her direction; three a mix of confusion and curiosity, one still unreadable save from the mouth wide open in a grin and the antenna – shaped like the little stems on music notes, Ina could tell from this angle now – lifted high. Toy Freddy was the first to break the silence, gently pushing Toy Bonnie away who had taken to gripping the shorter bear’s shoulders as if he were a shield from the stranger.
“So they’re going to perform?” Ina nodded in reply. Toy Bonnie rose to their full height once more as he was detached from the bear, hands clenched into fists. He seemed to be the most aggravated at this sudden change in animatronic performers with no prior warning.
“Where will they perform? This is my- our stage,” he shrieked, barely correcting himself at the loud sound of Toy Chica clearing her throat. Ina could only shrug in reply, not phased by his outburst.
“I’ve told you all I know. They’re here until the rest of their group is done and their location’s open. There’s probably plans.”
The four Toys fell silent once more, seemingly thinking between themselves.
Mangle was first to approach Oakley, static soft as they approached the new figure and held out a hand. Oakley didn’t even seem to have cared, or maybe even registered, the cold and confused welcome they had initially received, squeaking out an excited squeal as their pair of rubber hands clasped the fox’s single one and...stood there, bouncing on the balls of their feet once more as if happy to just stand there holding hands.
Mangle quickly began to turn their head, begging eyes seeking out someone to drag them out of this suddenly awkward greeting.
“So! This is Mangle,” Ina cut in suddenly, gently patting Mangle’s head as she pried Oakley’s from the fox’s and took them into her own, guiding the animatronic closer to the stage where the main trio continued to stand together. “And this is Toy Chica, Toy Freddy, and Toy Bonnie,” she continued, waving one hand to indicate each. “I hope we can all be friends?”
Oakley seemed to perk up even more, somehow, at the mention of ‘friends’, meeting the eyes of night guard and animatronics before yelling out once more – Ina would admit it sounded maybe like a cheer – and leaping onto the stage with ease. None of them seemed to expect the animatronic to be so light on their feet, scrambling to put space between themselves and Oakley. Toy Freddy wasn’t built for such sudden movements unfortunately, stumbling enough for the instrument-themed animatronic to quickly close the gap and, with a shriek from the surprised bear, pull the much smaller one into a hug, lifting Freddy just enough to twirl the now limp bear a little before setting their sights on the rest of the team and easily grabbing them and repeating the motion, slowly babbling more in their odd wavering tones.
It was a much smoother introduction than Ina expected, proven further as the hour and next few nights went on. No one else seemed to enjoy the onslaught of twirling hugs as much as she did, however.
Ina making the animatronics jealous by fussing over a Plushtrap Chaser she saved from being recalled ‘cos its suit was damaged and her boss likes her (they were gonna stock the prize corner with a couple as like a big prize). She likes crafty things and it looked like a fun time-waster. She didn’t expect it to scare everyone but her and then act all innocent when she showed up.
“No I can’t come hang out I need to finish sewing these cute fabric patches over the holes in his suit tonight.”
Eira likes to complain about her animatronic co-workers even though it’s (probably) coincidence they’re nearby when something goes wrong on her shift. (She complains about everyone though so it’s fine.)
Her least favourite is Toy Bonnie. They clash too easily.
Don’t mind me I’m thinking about my OCs so this will probably turn into a masterlist of OCs fav/least fav animatronics ‘cos i love em?
Ina:
Favourite: Mangle! After Ina stubbornly spent a whole night insisting she could totally work out how to rearrange Mangle’s parts to have more than 0 functioning hands one night they ended up laughing about the terrible job she did. Mangle’s much more interested in the little papercraft projects Ina uses to pass the night sometimes, and both don’t mind either getting all cosied up to chill out.
Least Favourite: Withered Freddy. She doesn’t hate him or anything but he’s very good at just...appearing when they feel willing to wander out of P&S. And not announcing he’s there until he steps out of wherever he was watching and scaring the living daylights out of her. Ina’ll shrug it off but dang she hates the heart attacks.
Eira:
Favourite: Balloon Boy! Her soft spot for kids extends even to the animatronic kids. She’s always the first he’ll run to when he needs more supplies and if she catches any kids or animatronics teasing the little lad she’s there in a heartbeat to tell them off (though she’s a little harsher on the animatronics).
Least Favourite: Toy Bonnie... they mix like oil and water. She’s always the first one chasing after him to tell him off for one thing or another and by this point everyone’s sure he’s only keeping it up just ‘cos it’s one of the few things that’ll test her patience in the restaurant and it cracks him up. A lot of the time it’s just the idea of being a bad influence for the customers kids that stops her really chewing that bunny out on shift.
Robert:
Favourite: Toy Freddy! That bear’s goofy voice just brightens up his day, and he’d happily call them his ol’ buddy Freddy. He’s also the only animatronic yet to participate in the long-running game the rest get involved in (mostly ‘cos a large brown plastic bear isn’t the sneakiest thing), so that may also play a part in the favouritism.
Least Favourite: The Puppet. Just the puppet’s general...everything unnerves the guy. It’s tall, gangly, and that always smiling mask staring at you across a whole restaurant would disturb most people (and he insists it’s looking at him, even in a room full of people). Whenever he helps restock the corner in the morning (which is rare, if he can help it) he swear it peeks out of the box just barely to watch. Though what he doesn’t know is the Puppet’s playing lookout whilst one of the wandering animatronics continues their longheld tradition of swapping out his smokes, often hiding the evidence in his box as they know Robert wouldn’t even dare approach the Puppet to check.
