One of the highest of human duties is the duty of encouragement... It is easy to laugh at men’s ideals; it is easy to pour cold water on their enthusiasm; it is easy to discourage others. The world is full of discouragers. We have a Christian duty to encourage one another. many a time a word of praise or thanks or appreciation or cheer has kept a man on his feet. Blessed is the man who speaks such a word.
William Barclay
Too often we live in a fog - cupfuls of troubles cloud our vision and dampen our spirit. Discouragement is seeing only the fog. Encouragement is when we help each other to see that the fog is not as dense as we think - that we can move through it into God’s light.
Stephen Muncherian
Are you a taker or a giver? A consumer or a builder?... Are other believers stronger and more secure in their faith because of you? Are you making a positive difference in the lives of others? This charge to encourage and build up is not given just to pastors and teachers; it is given to all believers. Encourage one another and be a builder. Don’t be satisfied with being just a consumer. Invest in the lives of your fellow believers. After all, the health of the church is dependent on the working of each of its members, including you (Eph. 4:16).
Ed Jarrett
The body of Christ is a family whose members are to be mutually involved with one another. One of the one-another ministries God calls us to practice is the ministry of encouragement.
Dr. David Jeremiah
Find a way that works for you to encourage others...
Maybe it is by just “being there” when someone is going through a tough time. Use cards, notes, emails, texts, even facebook to encourage others. Look for the right time to say a good word. A kind word. An uplifting word. Or it may be that arm around the shoulder of a discouraged, disconsolate friend. A touch of the hand. A warm embrace,. A pat on the back. A wink. A smile. A thumbs up!
~ Ken Weliever
A word of encouragement from a teacher to a child can change a life. A word of encouragement from a spouse can save a marriage. A word of encouragement from a leader can inspire a person to reach his potential.
John Maxwell
