I've always had a great admiration for athletes. The way they put their bodies to the test for years for that one moment of glory, the pure physical and mental strength poured into their passion for a sport, the way they show us of the amazing things our bodies are capable of - if we set our minds to it. From my primary thru uni years I channeled my excess energy into sports - track, netball, soccer, martial arts... but I never FELT like an athlete as much as I would've loved so much to be one. Sure I was into fitness and weight training... but so was everyone else. In January this year I went for the Argo Naga Dragonboat Team Open Day, just on a whim. I had no idea how it would wake my inner athlete from what I thought would be a perpetual slumber of dreams cast aside. It brought a whole new perspective of what a team sport was, a fresh dynamic that showed just how equally important each person on the boat was. It made me welcome every grueling training session and the aches and pains that came after, it kept me committed to my eating and fitness regime because I knew a stronger, fitter me made for a better member of the team. I wear my team jersey with pride because I know the journey it took to earn it. I paddle my heart out each time because I know we're only as strong as our weakest link. I give 110% in the boat, competition or not, because it's not just about me anymore -- it's about what the team deserves from me. My name is Rina, and I'm a dragonboater. #argonagadragonboat #argonaga #argonaut #dragonboat #teamsport #athlete #fitness #fitfam #nomeatathlete #plantpowered #paddlesup #paddler #dragonboatgirls #fitnesswomen #girlswithmuscle #trusttheprocess #focusout #strongerharderfaster #growtogetherwintogether
