I FOIAed the FBI a while back for their documents on the movie Toy Soldiers, because the DOD file says they had quite a lot of input. What came back was a couple of documents about another film whose script they reviewed - which was released under the title Dead Silence, not the title mentioned in the letter from the producer asking the FBI to review his script. It also mentions another movie by the same writer/producer that the FBI worked on. So, not what I asked for, but still useful and revealing. I have been trying to get my head around the British military's process for supporting non-news media and it is remarkably similar to the US military's system. I have been engaging the MOD over the last couple of years trying to get more documents and information on how this all works and after a several weeks-long break from doing anything journalistic I have resumed the FOIA fight on this issue. The irony is that the MOD respond to requests much more quickly, but are more obstructionist, so if anything it takes just as long to get proper documents out of them. I am not sure why the Dept of Justice sent me an email requesting that I fill in a form and do a search for documents in response to someone else's FOIA request. It's probably an error and they never meant to send it to me. But it is tempting to send back a couple of thousand pages of documents randomly selected from my archive. The sombitch FBI still haven't sent me the files on the F.B.I. TV show so I sent them an ultimatum - release them, or lose yet another FOIA appeal to me. I also put in another 5 requests to the Bureau this morning, and threw in requests to the CIA and DOD for good measure.
