the pitt makes such interesting commentary on overt and covert discrimination and the abuse that arises from it, but when it comes to the sexism and misogyny that has been exhibited since the first season by the white men in this show all of sudden some of you are incapable of seeing it bc you’re so far up their fucking asses
after the drug diversion was revealed to dr. al hashimi she suddenly was able to see a fuller picture of the hierarchal abuse from the white male doctors to their subordinates (of the doctors, majority of which are women of color) that has been allowed to thrive under robby’s supervison
while robby was berating mohan about her panic attack he looked towards langdon bc he’s seeking validation from his fellow white man; langdon does the same thing when dr. al hashimi disagrees with him over the treatment of care, langdon looks toward robby in hopes that he’ll side with him—they feel comfortable doing this even though their personal relationship with each other has been damaged, bc they are both white men
i will stop talking about this when everyone stops babying grown men, and downplaying the severity of their actions especially when it comes to the abuse they committed and their treatment towards "annoying" women
whenever i see fics where cliff steals “jane’s” number to text about ilya or to add “her” to a groupchat with the boston team, ive never seen one where it is the adding jane’s number to the groupchat that outs shane and ilya (at least only to the boston team). bc you cannot convince me that at least one of the guys on the boston team does not have The Shane Hollander’s phone number. they’ve either gotten his number from junior hockey days or bc Shane Hollander is yuna and david hollander’s son, so he is incredibly professional and networks like thats what he was actually trained to do. (plus the hockey world is small)
just imagine cliff adding jane to the chat and someone saying “bro why’d you add hollander?” and “jane” immediately leaving the chat.
joking that your account was banned bc of “erotically seditious content” is objectively the funniest thing noah wyle has ever written and i will be stealing it
dr j filmed the entire ice altercation and jesse being illegally detained and trust she will be posting that on her tiktok for all of her followers to see
it’s kind of wild that so many people are saying that santos (who was a victim of work place harassment) just needs to be quiet and deal with it now that the person who harassed her is back at work
now that we are halfway through the show, im sharing my little thoughts about the changes theyve made so far (bc i need to put them somewhere)
changes i dont know how to feel about yet:
1. Svetlana being Ilya's childhood friend from Russia
2. Why did they change Ilya's brother's name from Andrei to Alexei??? (i will stay being bothered by this, even though its not that serious)
changes i'm enjoying so far, and cant wait to see how they play out:
Yuna
I think the inclusion of Yuna more is working really well narratively. My main concern with the adaption was that the books are so internal and I wasn't sure how they were going to approach that, since there was no way the episodes were going to have a voice over. So, I thought it was very smart to have Yuna acting as sort of a personification of Shane's anxiety and perfectionism, especially with how that relates to him being asian in a predominately white sport.
Also have to mention The Elevator scene. I feel like that is going to pay off so well when Ilya meets Shane's parents and she starts putting the pieces together about the timeline in their relationship.
2. Cliff Marlow/Marleau
In the book, Cliff is described as being younger than Ilya but I think its really interesting that they sort of aged him (at least thats the impression that I got) because it changes their dynamic a bit. Cliff is still Ilya's best friend on the team but he has kind of taken on an "older brother" type role with Ilya, especially with how he teases him and gives him advice about the "Montreal Girl".

Because of this dynamic change, I'm really anticipating how thats gonna play out when The Accident/Shane's Injury happen and Ilya's reaction.
3. People clocking something
I love that we have different characters noticing stuff. Shane and Ilya are seeing each other secretly for ten years, and they are spending everyday with the same people for years like no shit they are going to notice something:
- Cliff teasing Ilya about the "Montreal Girl"
- Hayden acknowledging that Shane is distracted by his phone
- Scott's gaydar going off like crazy whenever he's around Shane (I think whether or not Scott is clocking Shane and Ilya's relationship is suppose to be a bit ambiguous but that man knows deep down that Shane is very gay)
EDIT: I cant believe I forgot about Svetlana knowing, and her asking Ilya about "Jane" (which we see in the trailer, and i'm predicting will be in Episode 4)
4. The Timeline Changes
The main timeline change I'm really liking is having Scott and Kip's fast and quick romance happen in 2014 (three years before he comes out as the first gay nhl player).
I am not a fan of instalove, which is why I'm not the biggest fan of Skip. Especially since Scott makes the impulsive decision to come out publicly, thrusting their relationship into the spotlight when they have only been together for like three months and Scott had only been out to his friends for like a week. Because of this change I hope that Scott and Kip's relationship will be more developed by the time the big moment happens.
Also postponing Shane getting dicked down for the first time was a very sweet change
5. The Fight between Scott and Shane
In game changers, Scott gets into a fight with Ilya but I really liked that they changed it to Shane. (Also having Shane say the line "Hope next time we play you decide to show up", which is a line Ilya says in the book is very cute)
When they get into the fight, the announcers proclaim "Has Shane Hollander ever been in a fight?" telling us very obviously that this behavior is out of character for Shane. He is in such denial about his sexuality and is so scare of anyone finding out that when Scott Hunter (a player that he looks up to and deeply admires) makes a comment that he perceives as a homophobic dig he panics and reacts in a way that he never would because at this point in his life; he is in his third season in the nhl, is falling in love with Ilya and fucking terrified.
