C.C. Andersen (Nov. 7, 1849 - 1906) was a Danish painter and conservator-restorer. He was Academy trained and traveled as far abroad as North Africa in his younger days.
As an artist he excelled in history and architecture painting, although his portraits were also highly regarded by his contemporaries. He also worked tirelessly restoring old canvases for various Danish castles and SMK - The Danish National Gallery.
Above is a canvas showing the Danish Parliament building, Christiansborg Castle, a few days after the October 1884 fire that ruined most of its interior. Andersen kept painting the damaged castle well into the 1890s...

Berit Hjelholt (Sept. 21, 1920 - 2016) was a Finnish-born Danish weaver who designed and created the tapestry that hung behind the speaker in Folketinget - the Danish Parliament until quite recently. She also made numerous tapestries for Danish churches, such as this piece:
Skibet på det bølgende hav, 1990 (Simon Peders Kirke, Kolding)
Olaf Rude (April 26, 1886 - 1957) was a Danish Modernist painter who spent much time on the island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea. He was born in Estonia to Danish parents, grew up on an estate on another Danish island, Lolland (Skejten), and was educated in Copenhagen. He traveled extensively in Europe and sucked up influences from all the current trends in contemporary art from 1911-1914. During WWI he traveled to Northern Norway, and studied landscape painting. Late in life he shifted to portrait painting.
Above is one of two large paintings of his in the Danish Parliament, both titled Dansk Landskab (Danish Landscape), 1954. The paintings show scenery from Skejten, Lolland.
Danish politician and champion of equality, Fredrik Bajer (April 21, 1837 - 1922), was one of the early winners of the Nobel Peace Prize (1908)...
After the calamities of 1864 when Denmark was humiliated by Prussia’s military might, Bajer entered into international organizations working for demilitarization and neutrality. He was also a member of Danish Parliament, and his work on legislation giving women suffrage is perhaps his lasting legacy.
Oh, and the campus of Aalborg University where I’ve studied and worked for 40+ years has a portion named after Fredrik Bajer!

I dagens video taler…
