Installation

just put the file in your packages-folder, the usual way, nothing special required.

How to create your own font replacement:

1. Find your font somewhere online 2. Download your font as a ".ttf" file 3. Download my mod 4. Open my mod with S3PE 5. Right click on the "HelveticaNeueLTStd-Md" entry > Replace > choose your font in .tff format 6. Right click on the "TextStyles" entry > notepad > a new window with CSS Code opens (this really easy to read, believe me) 7. CTRL + H (to replace text within the file) > replace all occurences of The Sims Sans with the name of your font (do not remove anything else, only replace the name with your font name) 8. Check if all got replaced right. Each quote symbol has to be present, just like before. Then Save the file and close the text editor. 9. Save the package file in S3PE. You're done. 10. Test the result in game.

Replace Chinese Font

find the font you want to replace it with and download it in ".tff" format

download the file "chinese_font_replacement_template", it's in the downloads tab

open it with S3PE

there are two Chinese character sets available: Chinese Traditional and Chinese Simplified, you can replace both or just one, you decide

5. if you replace Chinese Traditional:

right click at the entry with the name "bhei01m" > Replace… > choose your font in ".ttf" format > submit

right click at the entry with the name "TextStylesTChinese" > Notepad > (a new Window with Text opens) > Edit > Replace > enter the first text box: AR Heiti Medium B5 (it's the name of the original font) > enter in the second text box the name of your new font > Replace All > Save the file and close the text window

6. if you replace Chinese Simplified:

right click at the entry with the name "ggtr00b" > Replace… > choose your font in ".ttf" format > submit

right click at the entry with the name "TextStylesSChinese" > Notepad > (a new Window with Text opens) > Edit > Replace > enter the first text box: AR YuanGB Bold (it's the name of the original font) > enter in the second text box the name of your new font > Replace All > Save the file and close the text window

save your package in S3PE and close it

place the package file in your mods folder. Start the game. Does the new font show up in your language?

You're done. You made a new font replacement.

Replace Japanese Font

find the font you want to replace it with and download it in ".tff" format

download the file "japanese_font_replacement_template", it's in the downloads tab

right click at the entry with the name "TextStylesJapanese" > Notepad > (a new Window with Text opens) > Edit > Replace > enter the first text box: DFGothicP-W5 (it's the name of the original font) > enter in the second text box the name of your new font > Replace All > Save the file and close the text window

save your package in S3PE and close it

place the package file in your mods folder. Start the game. Does the new font show up in your language?

You're done. You made a new font replacement.

Replace Korean Font

find the font you want to replace it with and download it in ".tff" format

download the file "korean_font_replacement_template", it's in the downloads tab

right click at the entry with the name "AsiaSDNREA" > Replace… > choose your font in ".ttf" format > submit

right click at the entry with the name "TextStylesKorean" > Notepad > (a new Window with Text opens) > Edit > Replace > enter the first text box: AsiaSDNR EA (it's the name of the original font) > enter in the second text box the name of your new font > Replace All > Save the file and close the text window

save your package in S3PE and close it

place the package file in your mods folder. Start the game. Does the new font show up in your language?

You're done. You made a new font replacement.

right click at the entry with the name "TextStylesThai" > Notepad > (a new Window with Text opens) > Edit > Replace > enter the first text box: PSK SarabunL (it's the name of the original font) > enter in the second text box the name of your new font > Replace All > Save the file and close the text window

save your package in S3PE and close it

place the package file in your mods folder. Start the game. Does the new font show up in your language?

You're done. You made a new font replacement.

UI font replacements

Six default font replacements made using @ohrudi's The Sims Sans replacement as a base, and following their guide!

ℹ️ Please read the info below before downloading!

Some fonts may look better with a different UI color scheme! Unfortunately, fonts need at least a semi-bold weight to look readable, and not all look readable in the "dark blue against mid blue" of the default UI 😑 Every replacement contains previews in the default UI, justmiha97's Clean UI, and simstate's Blackout UI.

Use only one font replacement at a time! You can install in either Mods \ Overrides or Mods \ Packages.

These are compatible with UI recolors that don't also change fonts.

You can open up the _CSS resource in a text editor and change whatever values you want e.g. font size, letter spacing, line spacing. All the usable CSS tags are listed at the start. See below for a lengthier explanation.

ℹ️ Make your own font replacement!

You can make your own font replacements following the guide above! You can also use my edits as bases — I noted what some parts of the CSS do so it should be easier to change what you want.

There is a difference between the font's internal name and the font filename, and you will have to use the font's internal name in the CSS resource in the replacement. Here's an example of what I mean, having opened the font file with IrfanView:

ℹ️ Quick explanation!

font-size - for when you want to change the size of the text.

letter-spacing - for when letters are too spaced out or too close together. You can have negative and decimal values.

line-spacing - for when there's too much or too little space between lines.

font-family - for when you want to display a different font in one section.

Some parts of the UI have multiple CSS tags/properties affecting them. Ctrl-F relevant parts of my explanations (e.g. "Edit Town") to see what other bits of CSS affect specific parts of the UI. If a UI part appears multiple times (e.g. household funds), the latter instance is typically the one used by the game when it comes to text size, but the former can affect typeface (i.e. the font used) and line spacing.

⚠️ In spite of extensive testing, it's very likely that there are UI parts I haven't been able to identify. For now, those font sizes have been increased to 10x so that they're very visible when stumbled upon. If you happen to find any, please DM me with a screenshot of where you found said font!

Simblreen 2025 Gift #3: four quirky font replacements!

Similar to my previous font batch, these will replace the fonts in most of the game. This time I've tried to find some that are both on the quirky side and easy to read. All four are previewed in the default UI, simstate's Blackout UI, and justmiha97's Clean UI.

Use only one at a time! Place the .package files either in Mods \ Packages or Mods \ Overrides (I prefer the latter).

Condé Nast digital has been busy this August, launching redesigns of both WWD.com and VanityFair.com. Nothing really new to see here. They've even kept the Graydon Carter bobblehead on the 404 page.

I did uncover one little interesting (perhaps only to font geeks?) difference between the two sites. Both designs benefit mightily from font replacement, but only one site gets the benefit of a Condé Nast custom coded font replacement. That would be Vanity Fair. The magazine's logo and titles uses VF Sans, a custom font. Since I assume VF is the only one with the license to use the font, it naturally wouldn't be available on a font replacement service like TypeKit. So they had to go build the code themselves. That's what I call investing in your brand.
