Just had an awesome visit from @gayounazaire and friends. They left with a bunch of new trees for their home including lychee, starfruit, sugar apple, jackfruit, canistel, Sapodilla, and loquats. Jaklin, one of the first to plant a jackfruit tree from our nursery, even before I did. , came over to confirm what the fruit and flowers look like to make sure that he also has fruits. This made me so happy that I stopped everything I was doing to show him with total excitement! The future is looking bright. Huge shoutout to @westcoastseeds for donating a diverse array of seeds to share with our neighbors. This is Andre, one of our local farmers. I gifted him a grafting tool some months ago and as he returned to thank me again, I was able to greet him with even more. He is one of the community leaders and has much more agricultural experience then most in our area. With over 140 different types of mangoes grown in Haiti, it’s difficult to know the names of them all. Anyone has ever seen/tasted these and know the names? They were gifted from a neighbor. Oh so sweet! Don’t you just love when stuff just grows in your garden? You can find Kiwano, bok choy, radishes, sweet potatoes, herbs, amaranth, and pigeon peas in our garden growing on their own amongst the weeds. This is actually my best harvest of Kiwanis yet and they were planted by a crab! At least a dozen more left on the vine even bigger then these! Growing a food forest is as easy as scattering some seeds and letting nature take its course.
