Quick update on my pal Stewie, especially friends who have been helping out and those who can advise me/him on next steps. Thanks to the generosity of people like yourselves I’ve been able to provide warm clothing, books and a sleeping bag. He needs more than a laundry bag to store his stuff now. I’ve had a good chat with Stewie and he wants to leave the streets and relocate to Colchester Night Shelter. I’ve spoken to staff there and been advised on next steps. This may take a week or two to set up. It costs £3 per night there and I will be paying for three months - £252 plus £28 for a one way bus journey. Quite a few friends have committed to join me to help cover the costs. I’ve ordered him to get a medical once over too. He hopes to enrol in some vocational training once he’s settled. Remember, Stewie is a brain box and should have actually been working in Canary Wharf rather than begging at the gates. He is highly talented and if he picks himself up he’ll be a steamroller again. Bookworm Stewie is currently reading The Dark Tower series by Stephen King and has convinced me to add it on my ever growing list. Final #soupkitchen of #Ramadan #ramadan2019 Disappointed with @stratfordcentre with managers sending out two Muslim members of staff to address our presence. They were very polite and I asked for the managers to come down. They didn’t and we were requested to move a few feet away. There’s so many homeless people inside and we leave the area cleaner than we found it. Apparently @starbucksuk and @superdrug complained.
