Welcome/Chicken Cutlets
With the world in the weird place that it is, I figured that I might as well take advantage of the time at home. Living with me now I have two cousins who have been partaking in the social distancing process with me. These cousins are great cooks and have been making us home made food for just about every meal. So I figured I would spend some time with them in the kitchen and try to learn how to cook a bit.
For now I have mostly been watching, asking questions, and helping with little things. But, hopefully in the future I will be able to cook for myself and be confident in my own abilities.
Last night we decided to make chicken cutlets for dinner. For this we used chicken breasts, bread crumbs, flour, and eggs.
The process behind making these were quite simple. The oven should be preheated to 350 degrees fahrenheit. Just take the chicken breast and dunk it into the flour and then the eggs. After that coat the chicken breast with the bread crumbs. The amount of bread crumbs is up to the chef.
After the bread crumbs are on it’s time for them to go into the oven. I was advised around 2 minutes on each side usually is a good benchmark but it was stressed to me that it is also kind of a feel. If you want them a little crispier you keep them in a little longer and if not then you take them out quicker. So far from my couple of days being in the kitchen I have learned that not everything has one way to be cooked and don’t be afraid to put your own little twist on things.
We personally decided to keep them in for a little longer than two minutes in order to get the chicken a little crispier. When done let them sit for 4-6 minutes and then you should be ready to eat!
We served them with some green beans and overall they came out very good. This was one of our simpler meals but still one of my favorites. I think the chicken came out very good.
All in all, I am excited to share my own cooking experiences during this break and hopefully everyone is well and staying safe!
