Turkey Dumplings :) These little pillows of dough really make a satisfying dinner! They are deviously savory/sweet and nut and dairy free! No need to worry about nuts with takeout. What more could you ask for?
Ingredients :
Dough-
1. 2 cups of flour
2. 1 1/2 tsp of salt
3. 1 cup of warm/ hot water
Filling-
1. 1 tsp of minced garlic
2. 1 tsp of onion powder
3. 1 tsp of ground ginger
4. 1 pound of ground turkey
5. 1/4 tsp salt
6. 1/4 tsp pepper
7. 2 tsp of sugar
8. 1 tsp of soy sauce (you could use more but I limit soy in my diet)
9. 2 tsp of rice vinegar
10. 1/3 cup of chicken broth
11. 2 medium sized carrots shredded.
12. Canola oil for frying
Method:
Dough-
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and water until you form a dough.
2. Knead the dough on a floured surface until it becomes smooth.
3.Cover the dough and let it sit while you prepare the filling.
Filling-
1.In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, garlic, onion powder, ginger, salt, pepper, sugar, soy sauce, rice vinegar, chicken broth, shredded carrots.
Forming the dumplings-
1. Divide the dough into around 24 round balls. Roll them until they are about 4 inches wide of late dough.
2. Measure 1 tablespoon of the meat mixture and put it in the center of the dough. Fold the dough in half and make a crescent. Seal the sides but pressing down and then sing a fork to make pleats along the edges. Repeat this for all 24 dough balls.
3.Bring a large pot to a boil. Heat a frying pan with a thin layer of canola oil.
4.Put about 5 at a time of the formed dumpling into the boiling pot of water and let them sit for about 4-5 minutes. They should be floating on top of the surface at 4 minutes.
5. After the 4-5 minutes used a slotted spoon to fish the dumplings out of the water and place them carefully into the hot frying pan. Be careful not to get water onto the pan because it will start to spit oil at you! Let them fry until the bottoms are brown.
6. Transfer the fried dumplings onto a plate with paper towels on it to absorb excess oil.
7. Repeat the boiling of dumplings and frying until all 24 are finished.
8. Serve them with a vegetable and a dipping sauce. ( I love sweet and sour sauce!)
9. Enjoy.
Finally tried the "Surf & Turf" with fried shrimp and debris-style roast beef @bearspoboys. Only in LA can you find 5 ramen restaurants near you that all serve shirataki noodles. Feeling extremely blessed right now.
More slow cooking adventures in quarantine. Tonight’s experiment: slow cooker teriyaki chicken with rice and and sautéed pak choi. Will defo be doing this again. 😊 #cooking #teriyaki #chicken #igfood #quarantineeats #nom #instamood #instacook #iguk #instalife https://www.instagram.com/p/CAqrvOnhY_0/?igshid=1xzrwxmn9virx
Tbh this picture is from yesterday, but I’m currently eating leftovers from this meal out of a Tupperware. This lunch is 100% vegan, 100% homemade, and 100% delicious. The Chana Masala recipe is the same one I posted a couple weeks ago, so I’ll add that post to my story, and I’ll be posting the naan recipe tomorrow, so stay tuned for that! ⠀ ⠀ #dEats : basmati rice, Chana Masala, and garlic naan
Sourdough with peanut butter, banana, honey, and chia seeds 😍. That is all. ⠀
I love having a variety of different foods for my meals (It keeps things interesting 😜), so this snack bowl was a great lunch the other day. This week is my last week of class before finals, and let me tell you I am so ready to be done. I hope everyone finishes the semester strong 💪. ⠀
