That’s the third “heist” of theirs. The victim was a Yakuza banker. As untouchable as criminals come, and they still took him down. The public’s practically in a fervor now. We’re a week away from Phantom Thief t-shirts.
This needs to stop. The Thieves might be cleaning up the city, but they’re doing it by forcing these scumbags into growing a conscience. It’s not how we deal with ordinary criminals and it sure as hell isn’t natural. As bad as these guys have been, they’re still being brainwashed. I can’t just sit by and let that happen.
So I’m getting to the root of the problem. There are only so few suspects and the Thieves have been getting sloppy about covering their tracks. That was why they had to take care of Kaneshiro after all. All the evidence I have points to one man.
I walk into Cafe Le Blanc and take a seat at the bar. A young man with frizzy black hair and glasses stands behind it, polishing a cup with his back turned to me. As he takes notice of me, I lift up my index finger and stare him dead in the face.
“Need a black coffee and minute of your time, in that order,” I say and place my PI badge on the counter, letting him know exactly who I am. There’s no need for masks between us. “Sound fair?”
