There was a hint, just last week, of spring in the air. A warm breeze, a morning without frost, a few pale pink buds on the trees. It's all gone now and winter persists. An endless winter. There will be no warmth and no leaves as the frost hardens the earth. The idea of spring is but a taunting illusion.
