Anne looked in the mirror one more time, before she left her home.
‘Mum, I’m leaving!’ she said to her mum who was sitting on the couch in the living room. Her mum looked up from her magazine and smiled.
‘Have a good time, dear. And say hi to Nadieh from me!’ Anne nodded, grabbed her purse and went outside where Nadieh was waiting in the car.
‘Ready?’ Nadieh asked when Anne stepped into the car.
‘Ready.’ Anne smiled. Nadieh hit the gas pedal and they shot off to the Emirates Stadium. As fans they won tickets to the charity ball and that happened to be tonight, as well as it happened to be that they were both fans and friends. Anne reminisced the day Nadieh called her in hysterics..
‘ANNE!’ Nadieh yelled through her phone.
‘Jesus Christ, Nadieh, calm down, what’s going on?’ Anne said calmly, but lightly excited.
‘LISTEN CAREFULLY AND PREPARE YOURSELF.’ Nadieh screamed and breathed heavily. Anne sat down on her bed, grinned and waited for Nadieh to start talking.
‘I have WON tickets to the Arsenal Charity ball!’ Nadieh screeched and yelled afterwards. Anne’s eyes were widened and for a moment she didn’t know what to say.
‘W-w-w-what does that mean?!’
‘That WE, my love, are going to the charity ball and meet the players! OH MY GOD!’
Anne smiled by the memory of that moment and looked out of the window. They arrived in some kind of neighborhood and it didn’t look like there would be stadium anywhere near.
‘Are we in the right neighborhood?’ Anne asked and frowned.
‘The sat nav says we are!’ Nadieh said, while she drove further and looked around. Then suddenly, on their right side, a HUGE stadium came up. They both looked breathlessly.
‘It’s so beautiful.’ Nadieh breathed, whereas Anne could only nod in agreement. Nadieh drove into the car park of the stadium and randomly parked her car.
‘Let’s go.’
Both girls were feeling the excitement. They’d meet their heroes in less than minutes, in suits! There wasn’t a better way to meet them, was there? They showed their IDs and tickets to the security, who let them into the stadium. They followed the signs and ended in a huge kind of ballroom.
‘Wow.’ Nadieh said, looking around.
‘I didn’t even know they had that!’ Anne said, full of amazement. Nadieh shook her head and turned to Anne.
‘Okay, what shall we do n-‘ Before she could finish her sentence, a tanned guy with a big smile walked over to them, also known as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain or “The Ox”.
‘Hello girls! I guess you’re the prize winners right? My name’s Alex and I have to pleasure to be your host tonight.’ Anne was nearing a mental breakdown as she practically loved Alex, so Nadieh took over.
‘H-h-h-hello Alex! I’m Nadieh and that’s Anne. Nice to mee-t-t you.’ She stuttered and her head went bright red. Alex laughed sweetly.
‘Nice to meet you girls as well. Do you want a drink? I’ll show you around and introduce you to the lads.’ Both the girls nodded and followed Alex to the bar. Anne mouthed an “OH –MY – GOD” to Nadieh, whereas the other girl grinned and pushed her next to Alex.
The guy ordered some drinks for them, handed them over and introduced them to all the other Arsenal players, who all were really, REALLY nice.
Later that night, Anne and Alex were randomly chatting to one another. Anne was surprised that it went so easily. Alex was so easy to talk to and made her laugh all the time. He even bought his own Arsenal jersey at the auction, which he handed to her as a present, since Nadieh told him Anne was his biggest fan. Anne could not believe he was being so nice to her, she was “just a fan” for all that she knew.
Time flew by and Anne was already dreading the moment she had to say goodbye to Alex. And it probably was a goodbye, that’s what made it sad. She saw that Nadieh was laughing with Theo and was having a great time as well, what made it a bit worse. They’d both be depressed tomorrow, probably. Alex saw the frown on her forehead.
‘What’s wrong?’ he asked worried. Anne shook her head and sighed.
‘I was just thinking.. This night has been so amazing and tomorrow it’s all over and we probably won’t see you guys ever again!’ she exclaimed. She went bright red after her talk when she realized that probably was not the most flattering thing to say. She was relieved when she saw Alex laughed and looked at her again.
‘It’s certainly not the “end”, love.’ Anne almost fainted when Alex called her love, but managed to keep her stuff together.
‘What do you mean?’
‘I mean that I really like you and I want to see you more often than only tonight.’ Alex smiled, which he confirmed with a light kiss on her lips. Wait, what just happened?! That he, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain really kiss HER?!
‘I’m certainly in for that.’ Anne smiled at him, after which Alex smiled and gave her another kiss. Can’t say this charity ball wasn’t a good cause for Anne.
