2022 || Mabitha
Tabitha was able to work from home quite a lot, making the occasional trip to the city for meetings at the newspaper’s headquarters. It worked well for her - it meant she had plenty of time to work on short stories and novels. She had plenty of ideas floating around in her head, it was just sticking with one after the first few chapters were written.
Another reason Tabitha was happy to work from home was that her and Matthew were in the middle of finalizing their wedding plans. Due to be wed in just a couple of months, there were still things that Tabitha needed to sort, like the decorations. A lot of the decor she wanted to be homemade. Their wedding wasn’t going to be a huge ordeal - just family, and close friends. She wanted it to feel personal.
That morning she had awoken with the intention of making name tags for each of the guests to go on the tables. She had taught herself how to do calligraphy, and was excited to be able to put it to good use. However, there was something even more important she had to do first.
After having breakfast with Matthew, she told him she was just popping out to get a few arts and crafts she needed - which was true - but she also had to pop in to the pharmacy, and pick up a selection of pregnancy tests. For someone who was usually regular, Tabitha was a week and a half late, and she couldn’t help but wonder if there was more to it than just stress messing up her body’s cycle.
She hadn’t expressed her thoughts to Matthew, and she wouldn’t. Not unless the tests came back positive. Unable to wait until she got home, she nipped into a coffee shop, ordered herself a decaf tea, and headed straight to their bathroom, and did three pregnancy tests.

“Matthew?” Tabitha called out as she returned from her shopping trip. “Which room are you in?”
