Last night I had a dream. And it was... let me tell ya, people, it was really something.

I was trying to get Phillip DeFranco to watch Spies are Forever, because I just knew he’d love it. So I guided him over to my laptop (using the whole “if you like musicals and you like spy movies then you’ll like this” shtick, ‘cos that’s how you do it) and opened the link to my digital download version.

Only for Curt to be the one interrogating someone, and for that someone to be Owen. Resulting in some even more extravagant “very heterosexual” dancing. Meaning full-on tango and the like. Owen was actually Flop Stopper haired Joey Richter in a sparkling, sequin-lined blue suit jacket, and it all devolved into some kind of ball which culminated in Curt yanking off his outfit to reveal a half black, half gold elegant dress (similar in style to the one worn by the ‘mystery singing woman’ at the start of SaF’).

At this point my in-dream self’s very confused brain finally caught up to the fact that something was very obviously going on, and I paused the video and looked above it on the page. There were three tags:

‘Spies are Forever charity concert’ (the one I was currently watching)

‘Spies are Forever (I think it said something like ‘prequel’ or ‘alternate’ here)’

‘Spies are Forever Original’

Apparently the Tin Can Bros had gone and set up this entire thing using their own savings ‘cos they were sad over Wayward Guide being delayed.

So I declared myself tired enough that I should go to bed (it was past midnight), and informed Phillip DeFranco that he had to go home and watch it himself. Specifying very insistently that he had to watch the original version first.

And then I went to bed.

...Or I would have gone to bed, had the curiosity not been so darn great. Instead I ended up clicking on that second tag...

Curt was being sent on a mission. He was supposed to meet his partner (Tatiana) and the Informant at a fake Omiai (arranged marriage meeting). He arrived and knelt at the (Japanese style, so very low) table, and the informant (who was at the head of the table) started announcing people. Cynthia was there in the place of Curt’s mum. And all these different wildly ridiculous people started to arrive. The people themselves- not actors. Hollywood stars and William and Kate and the like. And then John Oliver was there announcing people instead, but he could barely speak because he was cracking up (he was pretty much in full hysterics) so hard after he realised that one of the people further down the list was Queen Elizabeth herself. There were at least three different Joey Richters on stage simultaneously (all actually him, just in different costumes and with different lengths of hair). And then AJ Holmes appeared in his “Joey’s Heart” get-up and was like “And Because He’s So Goddamn TALENTED:” And the camera panned to a fourth Joey Richter kneeling at the table all in black, wearing a hoodie which concealed his entire face.

...And that’s about when I woke up.

Dreams are weird.
