Anxiety , impatience

Ryo: He actively pouts. Like, not in a whiney please oh please let me have my way pout, but more of a quiet I’m upset with the universe but know nothing can be done kind of way. His eyebrows furrow and his lip, if not stuck out more than it should be, gets bit at for a moment. He’s used to doing things slowly, though, so he rarely gets impatient. ‘Cept when he’s dealing with Henry. He gets quite bothered, being around Henry.

5. Season

Beth and Ryo both emulate sumer, but different kinds of summer. Beth is more of a “Beach Day” Summer, a day that’s bright and sunny that motivates yo to get out and Do Things. Ryo’s more of a late August Summer, when the heat is sweltering and the Cicadas are out in full force, making everything seem so slow and lazy.

I’ve always linked Beth to the Tiger for some reason. And for some reason, Ryo and Gata are, like, bears? With Gata being the big cuddly one and Ryo being the one that stands on it’s hind legs to look tougher and will wreck your fucking shit.

Of Desperation (Drabble)

When Ryo finally found him, it was literally in the last place he’d thought to look. Ok, Second to last. He’d been putting off searching Mint’s sub-basement for obvious reasons.

Curled up in the back of the previously enchanted supply closet, Gata looked like a wreck. His eyes were puffy and red as if he’d only stopped crying moments before. That probably was the case, thought Ryo, as his heavy footsteps could have been heard two hallways down. Recently, he’d always found Gata wearing a half-fake smile and an excuse to be elsewhere. Maybe now, they’d both become tired of the game. Maybe now, he was ready to talk.

The Cyborg joined his twin in the closet. The door was closed to prevent any unwanted party crashers and in two short strides, Ryo was side by side with Gata. A moment passed as Ryo silently motioned towards the empty spot of floor next to Gata. Gata didn’t say or do anything to the contrary, which Ryo took as an invitation.

They sat in silent for a few moments. Gata stared ahead at the blank wall, while Ryo stared at Gata, waiting for him to start. Finally, Gata took in a deep breath and, shakily began.

“I’m such a fuck-up,” He whined. The crying had not been kind to his voice, something Gata actively tried to fix before continuing. As his Brother cleared his throat, Ryo waited patiently. 

“I’m a fuck-up,” Gata began again, “Everything I do, everyone I meet, I just fuck everything up.” Ryo naturally thought otherwise, but let Gata continue. “I fucked it up with Jen, like, four times. And the last time almost got her killed...”

Ryo’s eyes widened. He’d known that their friend Jen had been there the day the Kamen Rider attacked; that much he was able to get out of Mint. And for Gata to be talking about it- Could this mean he’d finally discover the name of the Rider he’d been searching for? His mouth opened, eager to ask.

“I saw Claus today,” Gata whimpered, voice suddenly sounding incredibly small. Ryo’s face fell.

“...Claus,” Ryo responded. He knew who Claus was. For a short time, Claus was all Gata could talk about- some boy he’d met while traveling the worlds who Gata had taken a shine to. Ryo mentally kicked himself for not noticing how Gata hadn’t mentioned him in a long while; but then, Gata hadn’t been more than a shadow of his former self in a while either.

“Yeah...” Gata sighed, “He’s... He’s forgotten me, Ryo. He moved on. He’s with somebody else who makes him happy and he’s smiling and he’s not in the hospital and he’s...” Tears threatened to fall, but Gata didn’t have the energy to reach up and wipe them away. Ryo didn’t have the heart. Gata had been keeping everything inside for so long... If this was how he needed to get it out, then...

Gata turned as if to reach for Ryo before stopping himself. Instead, he leaned forward and wrapped his arms around his legs, hiding his face in his knees. wracked by silent sobs, Gata was unable to see the look of anger that passed Ryo’s face.

This was not his brother. His brother was happy, and aloof, and carefree. Fun-loving and adventurous and silly. To have such little confidence, to be so vulnerable was not Gata’s way. This was the result of that blasted Kamen Rider! Ryo’s fist clenched by his side, his only expression of his fury. This was it. He needed to know.

“Gata...” he said in as calm a voice he could muster, “That day... with Jen...”

Gata’s entire body visibly stiffened.

“What was the Kamen Rider’s name?”

A tense minute passed with the pair sitting in silence. Gata was barely breathing, face still hidden by his knees. Ryo briefly wondered if maybe he’d read the situation wrong, that Gata wasn’t as ready to talk as he’d thought. Finally, Gata’s small voice piped up.

“Fuu... Her name is Kamen Rider Fuu.”
