I don't understand why people don't like Britin's ending? I only recently watched the show and joined the fandom and for me it was like they agreed that Justin'd go to New York but they're still gonna see each other and be together?? Which is fine, it's not that far from Portland. Did I understand wrong lol?
Hey anon !
Oh boy, lmao as always there are two sides in this some people liked it, some people hated it. I personally am not a fan, without rambling on in a nutshell it just didn't do justice for either Brian and Justin separately or Britin. I think when it aired it was a kick in the guts because we spent 5 years watching them get together, break up, date other people and then finally reunite. We had just gotten the beautiful ily, they got engaged, and then they call off the wedding, which is fine. But suddenly Justin HAS to go to New York right away, and onscreen it wasn't really made clear they would see each other, because all Brian said was we don't know if we will see each other again, even if we never do it's only time.
They could've at least showed them making that agreement, saying they would see each other, they'd come so far, finally were happy and in love and that space wouldn't hurt them. Also Justin just goes off to New York after one review, and well Brian ended up all alone without Justin or his son.
The writers afterwards years later did say, that ending didn't mean they wouldn't see each other again, and like you said it's not that far away to travel. But essentially I think the fans and the characters deserved a clear happy onscreen ending and not one open to interpretation.
