October 22nd 2015, the New York Rangers played the Arizona Coyotes at Madison Square Garden. Hockey fights cancer is a great charitable way to give money to a horrible disease that has affected every person in some matter. As part of this awareness night, kids from The Hassenfeld Children’s Center at NYU Langone Medical Center attended the game by participating in various once in a lifetime opportunities. This includes the ceremonial puck drop, honorary Blue Crew member, Stick Kid for a night and a ride on the Zamboni machine. They met Rangers alumni and experienced the thrill of being featured live on GardenVision during the game. To offer additional support to The Hassenfeld Children’s Center at NYU Langone Medical Center and their on-going work with pediatric cancer patients, the Rangers and Garden of Dreams provided them with a $5,000 Hockey Fights Cancer grant. The Rangers support these children and want to make a difference in their lives. The Rangers and all NHL teams want these children to know that they are not alone and that they will get through their illnesses and be stronger than ever. The Rangers also sell merchandise that raises money for cancer research. They practiced in hockey fights cancer jerseys that are lavender with each teams individual logo, to support the cause.I really think Hockey Fights Cancer is so important. I think it is great that they contribute to such a horrible disease. The kids fighting for their lives are huge hockey fans, and being able to meet a player can make their tough time, alittle easier. Hockey players care a lot about their fans. I think they care more than any other professional sport team. They are good guys on and off the ice. I really want a hockey fights cancer shirt. I just love that they try to make a difference in these children’s lives.
