Role of IoT in Smart Cities
Forecasts says that by 2030, almost 60% of the world’s population will live in major cities which would result in: freshwater scarcity, pile of garbage, collapse of traffic and air pollution. These problems only have one solution and that is Smart City which stands for better standard of life.
Smart cities use Internet of Things (IoT) that is: connected sensors, lights, and meters. This is used to improve infrastructure, public utilities and services and more.
Here are some components of Smart City:
Smart Infrastructure: this includes urban infrastructures, buildings are planned sustainably, CO2 emissions are kept as low as possible, use of intelligent technologies to make the infrastructure environmentally friendly and use of smart lightning that tracks the brightness level.
The City Air Management Tool (CyAM): this tool is a cloud based software that Captures real time information on the air quality and forecasts emissions.
Traffic Management: the main challenge these days for the smart cities is to optimize traffic. For this pavement integrated sensors are used that gives real-time updates of traffic flow to a central traffic management platform which analyses the data and automatically adjusts traffic lights to the traffic situation within seconds.
Smart Parking: Intelligent parking solutions have been used to identify where there is space for parking with the help of sensors fitted inside the ground and connected with the help of smartphone of the driver.
Smart Waste Management: this is used to optimize the efficiency of waste collection and reduce the cost of operations.
Beware, buy bread and milk, for I have seen The Snow Chicken.
Preparing for Download Festival, thank god I just got a day ticket! Hope they arrive in time! Ordered last night! Eeek!

The Week of January 6th, 2019 Through January 13th, 2019.
This week is going to be a very active week astrologically speaking.
Uranus stations direct in Aries today. There was a south node solar eclipse in between Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn yesterday. Venus will leave Scorpio and enter Sagittarius tomorrow (Finally). Then we have Mercury square Mars on Tuesday, the Sun conjunct Pluto on Friday, Mercury conjunct Saturn and the first perfection of the Jupiter-Neptune square next Sunday. A pretty intense week with the exception of Venus’s ingress into Sagittarius on Monday.
Communications have the potential to become harsh and aggressive this week. The messages we receive around this time can seek to oppress or repress. Themes of power, its use, and abuse will come to the fore. There is also an element of deception and exaggeration in the zeitgeist. It behooves us to thoroughly examine what presents itself to us at this time. Lies, exaggerations, and deceptions are prevalent at the moment. We already see this in the USA with the propaganda coming out of the white house around the border wall and the government shutdown. All of these aspects are in orb and currently in effect. These aspects will culminate this week and they will do so in a way that is quite unexpected and quite harsh. Remember, we are fresh off of a pretty intense eclipse in Capricorn and a Uranus station in Aries. Capricorn rules world governments. Aries can be belligerent and prone to violent outbursts when afflicted by a Uranus station. It’s going to be a good week to watch the headlines to see how these aspects culminate.
It is also going to be a good week to watch our words. There may be consequences to our unthoughtful, unskillful, deceptive, ugly, language that we may not be prepared for. If you have any ongoing conflicts with anyone it is best to avoid them for the time being. These conflicts can spin out of control in ways that have long-lasting consequences. If you know you are wrong, it’s best to sit down and be quiet instead of lying and becoming aggressive in an attempt to cover your tracks or deflect attention. This kind of aggressive deceptive speech will have harsh affecting repercussions you have not anticipated. Refrain from gossip or slander. With a sky like this, it will bite you in the ass. Hard. You can’t say I didn’t warn you! haha! Have a fantastic week!
